Spoiler: Gerhild is the traitor in Rollo’s camp during the Essexe quest “Old Wounds.” Accuse Gerhild to prevent Estrid from being injured later. This choice does not change whether Rollo joins Eivor or how the game ends.
How to identify the traitor in “Old Wounds”
Investigate the camp before reporting your accusation to Rollo. The quest’s clue sequence is more useful than guessing from the two names alone; guides describe it as follows:
![PS5 - Assassin's Creed Valhalla - [PAL EU - NO NTSC]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51efoxSepyL._SL160_.jpg)
- Speak to both Gerhild and Lork.
- Inspect the camp’s meat supplies and the nearby red bushes.
- Talk to both suspects again, then report your choice to Rollo.
The walkthroughs confirm these investigation steps but do not establish a complete verbatim transcript of every clue or line of dialogue. Use the clues and follow-up conversations rather than relying on a supposed exact quote. See the Game8 “Old Wounds” walkthrough.
What happens if you accuse Gerhild or Lork?
- Accuse Gerhild: You identify the actual traitor, and Estrid is not injured later in the Essexe story.
- Accuse Lork: Lork dies, but Gerhild remains free. She betrays the group again, and Estrid is injured later, though she survives.
The Game8 choices guide and PowerPyx story choices guide report that this decision does not affect Rollo’s recruitment or the game’s ending.
