Yes. Nintendo currently lists GEX Trilogy as supported on Nintendo Switch 2, with game behavior consistent with Nintendo Switch. It is the Nintendo Switch game running through backward compatibility—not a separate Switch 2 edition or an enhanced release.
Does GEX Trilogy work on Nintendo Switch 2?
Nintendo’s US product listing marks GEX Trilogy “Supported” under Nintendo Switch 2 Compatibility Information and says its game behavior is consistent with Nintendo Switch. That is the official compatibility status; it does not promise Switch 2-specific upgrades. Nintendo’s US listing identifies the product as Nintendo Switch software.

What changed, and when?
On June 24, 2025, Nintendo Life reported that Limited Run Games’ compatibility patch had been approved. The report reproduced the publisher’s message: “If you bought the game and encountered issues, please download the latest update to enjoy GEX Trilogy on your Nintendo Switch 2. This patch will be included on the physical release, and we sincerely appreciate everyone’s patience!” Nintendo Life’s June 24, 2025 report said affected players should download the latest update and that the patch would be included on the physical release.
Is the Switch 2 patch on the cartridge?
Limited Run Games said the patch would be included on the physical release, as quoted in the June 24, 2025 report. That statement does not establish the contents of every particular cartridge edition or any later manufacturing revision. Before buying a physical copy, check its specific edition details with the seller or publisher.
