Ghost of Yōtei is officially available on PlayStation 5, but no PC version has been announced. Bloomberg reported in 2026 that Sony had dropped a planned PC port, citing people familiar with the company’s plans. Sony has not publicly confirmed the cancellation, and the report does not rule out a future change in strategy.
What platforms can you play Ghost of Yōtei on?
Sucker Punch’s official FAQ lists Ghost of Yōtei as a PlayStation 5 exclusive. It launched on PS5 on October 2, 2025, and supports PS5 Pro. The FAQ does not announce a PC edition.

Sony’s FY26 Q1 supplemental table also lists the game for PlayStation 5, with a release date of October 2, 2025. That table is a record of listed platforms and sales context; it does not explain Sony’s decisions about a PC port.
What did Bloomberg report about a PC port?
In 2026, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier reported that Sony had scrapped a planned PC release of Ghost of Yōtei, citing unnamed people familiar with the company’s plans. Ars Technica’s account of the Bloomberg report describes the sourcing and says Sony’s strategy could change again.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors#1 Best Overall
- Stunning graphics and gameplay, explore the wild and striking lands around Mount Yotei on foot or horseback. Travel picturesque parts of northern Japan through grasslands, snowy ridges, fields of wildflowers, and more.
- Discover renegade combat, engage in lawless katana combat and battles with adversaires. Train with various sensei as you find and learn to use each new weapon.
- An unconventional story and journey, take in the cultural beauty of Japan, bathe in an onsen, visit shrines to pray, try Sumi-e painting, and so much more.
- Choose your weapon, battle Atsu's opponents as you see fit, with levelled-up dual katanas, odachi, kusarigama and other new weapons.
This is reported information, not an on-record announcement from Sony or Sucker Punch. No public company statement confirming a cancellation, giving a cancellation date, or describing the port’s development status was identified. It is therefore too strong to say that Sony has officially canceled the PC version or that it will never happen.
Were reasons for the reported decision given?
Ars Technica says Bloomberg’s sources described concerns discussed inside Sony about console hardware sales and possible future competition from Xbox. Those are reported considerations, not established official reasons for the decision on Ghost of Yōtei specifically. Sony’s sales table does not explain the reported port decision, and the game’s sales figure should not be used to infer why Sony allegedly changed plans.

- Discover a bold, new story of a warrior in Japan who is on her own mission of vengeance.
- Set 300 years after the critically acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei is a standalone experience set in 1600s rural Japan. The story follows a haunted, lone mercenary named Atsu. Thirsty for revenge, she travels through the beautiful, rugged landscapes of northern Japan, hunting those who killed her family many years earlier.
- Sixteen years after her family’s death, Atsu’s quest across Ezo brings her to unexplored lands in search of a gang of six outlaws, but she finds much more than vengeance. Throughout her journey, Atsu will discover unlikely allies, and greater bonds than she could have imagined.
Does Ghost of Yōtei’s predecessor make a PC version likely?
Sony’s platform and release table lists Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut on PC, with a release date of May 16, 2024. That shows the earlier game eventually came to PC; it does not establish that Ghost of Yōtei will follow the same path. The official Yōtei FAQ still identifies PS5 as its platform, while the PC-port cancellation remains a media report rather than a public Sony confirmation.
What does Sony’s sales figure tell us?
Sony Interactive Entertainment’s FY26 Q1 table reports 3.3 million estimated sell-through units for Ghost of Yōtei as of November 2, 2025—32 days after its October 2 launch. Sony says its first-party software sell-through figures are estimates and exclude add-on content. This is a dated sales snapshot, not a PC sales figure or an explanation of the alleged port decision.

Should you play now or wait for PC?
| Choice | What is established | What you need to know |
|---|---|---|
| Play now | The released version is for PS5; PS5 Pro is supported. | You need PS5 hardware to play the officially available version. |
| Wait for PC | No PC edition or release date is announced in Sucker Punch’s FAQ. Bloomberg reported that a planned port was dropped. | The report makes a PC release less certain, but does not prove a future port is impossible. |
If you want to play now, the PS5 version is the available route. Waiting makes sense only if you are willing to accept that there is no announced PC edition or timetable.
