What did Drew Harrison post?
On September 10, 2025, Harrison posted: “I hope the shooter’s name is Mario so that Luigi knows his bro got his back.” The joke referred to the then-unidentified person who shot Charlie Kirk and Luigi Mangione, who was accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in December 2024. Harrison later wrote that people should contact their representatives about gun control rather than email employers. She also said that losing her decade-long “dream job” for standing against fascism was something she would do again. Game Developer reported those posts and Sony’s confirmation on September 16, 2025.
What did Sony and Sucker Punch say?
Sony told Kotaku: “Drew Harrison is no longer an employee of Sucker Punch Productions.” That statement confirmed her departure but did not state why it happened. Kotaku reported the statement on September 19, 2025.

In an interview with Game File, Sucker Punch co-founder Brian Fleming said the studio condemns “celebrating or making light of someone’s murder” and considers it “a deal-breaker.” His comments explained the studio’s stated position; they did not provide a full account of the internal employment decision. Why does Harrison say she was fired?
In a later Aftermath interview, Harrison acknowledged that “the joke was not in the best taste” but disputed that the joke was the real cause of her dismissal. PC Gamer quoted her saying, “I was fired because of a harassment campaign.” She described employer contacts and anonymous calls that she believed were part of that campaign, and said she felt no one investigated harassment directed at her and coworkers. So, was the Ghost of Yōtei artist fired for a Charlie Kirk post? Harrison says the harassment campaign that followed the post was the reason. The studio publicly condemned making light of murder, and Sony confirmed she had left. The available reporting does not settle the precise internal rationale.
