Game8 reports that the mark appears as a red crosshair visible through walls. To briefly mark several enemies instead, use focused hearing.
How to mark an enemy commander with the spyglass
- Find a position where you can see the enemy commander.
- Bring up the spyglass and use it to spot the commander.
- Look for the red crosshair mark. Game8 says it remains visible through walls, making it useful for tracking the commander after they leave your line of sight.
The guide describes this method specifically for enemy commanders; it does not establish that the spyglass can mark every enemy. It also does not document the button used to confirm a mark, so the precise input should be checked against the current in-game prompt rather than assumed. Game8’s guide was updated October 8, 2025.

Spyglass or focused hearing?
| Method | Supported use | Reported indication |
|---|---|---|
| Spyglass | Spot enemy commanders | Red crosshair reportedly visible through walls (Game8) |
| Focused hearing | Briefly mark multiple enemies | Enemies may glow white or red depending on technique level (Game8) |
Focused hearing is the better fit when you want a quick view of several nearby enemies; the spyglass method described by Game8 is for spotting a commander. The guide does not establish an exact range or cooldown for either method.
The spyglass also helps with exploration
PlayStation describes the spyglass as a way to spot and mark points of interest while traveling, including locations associated with bamboo strikes, shrines, and hot springs. That exploration use is separate from Game8’s enemy-commander instructions; PlayStation’s description does not specify enemy-marking controls. PlayStation’s characters and combat overview explains its broader role.
