Ghost of Yōtei launched for PlayStation 5 on October 2, 2025. It is a standalone story set in Ezo—present-day Hokkaido—hundreds of years after Ghost of Tsushima, and it stars Atsu, a warrior seeking revenge on the Yōtei Six. PlayStation announced a Complete Edition and new content for October 2026; the announced update dates have passed, but availability can vary by territory.
Is Ghost of Yōtei a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima?
Not in the direct story sense. Sucker Punch says the stories are unrelated and that Ghost of Yōtei takes place several hundred years after Ghost of Tsushima. Jin Sakai does not appear, though his legend persists. The studio has described the game as a worthy follow-up to Jin’s journey, making it a continuation of the series’ broader ideas and mythos rather than a continuation of Jin’s plot.

Who is Atsu, and where is the story set?
Atsu is the protagonist, a warrior on a revenge quest against the Yōtei Six, an outlaw gang led by Lord Saito. They killed her family sixteen years before the main story. PlayStation’s official cosplay guide says Atsu was 12 when she lost her family; her survival helped form her reputation as an onryō.

The story is set in Ezo, the historical name for present-day Hokkaido. Sucker Punch describes its depiction of the region as fictionalized. The game is not presented as a documentary account of Hokkaido or its history.
What platforms can you play Ghost of Yōtei on?
Ghost of Yōtei launched October 2, 2025, exclusively for PlayStation 5, with PS5 Pro support. Sucker Punch’s FAQ says there is no PS4 version and identifies the game as PS5-exclusive; it does not announce a PC release.

At launch, PlayStation announced Standard, Digital Deluxe, and Collector’s Editions. In October 2026, it announced a Complete Edition that adds the new story expansion and mode alongside the main game and other content. The table distinguishes the launch editions from that later edition; current prices, stock, and availability depend on territory and retailer.

The Standard-to-Deluxe upgrade is available for a fee according to PlayStation’s FAQ. Check the current PlayStation Store listing in your region for the upgrade price and terms rather than relying on the U.S. launch MSRPs above.

Echoes of Sekigahara
The Complete Edition announcement describes Echoes of Sekigahara as a new narrative expansion. It is part of the announced Complete Edition content and was scheduled to arrive through patch v2.0.
Most Wanted
Most Wanted is a new single-player combat-survival mode included in the Complete Edition announcement, also scheduled through patch v2.0.

Legends co-op
The Complete Edition includes Ghost of Yōtei Legends, PlayStation’s online co-op experience for up to four players. PlayStation describes Legends access as free for game owners, but online multiplayer requires an internet connection and a PlayStation Plus subscription.
PlayStation scheduled patch v2.0 for October 1, 2026 globally, with October 2 availability in some territories, including Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. Those dates have passed as of October 8, 2026, but the announced schedule alone does not establish that the patch or Complete Edition is available in every market now. Check the regional PlayStation Store or game update information for current status.
