1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsRibera-40002 means Ghost Recon Wildlands failed to connect to its online services. The message alone cannot tell you whether Ubisoft’s services or your own connection is responsible. Check Ubisoft’s current service notices first, then try the game-specific workaround Ubisoft Support suggested in 2022 and move on to platform-appropriate connection checks.
What Ribera-40002 means
The error is associated with a failure to connect to Wildlands’ online services. Players may also describe it as “unable to connect to Ubisoft servers,” “services are not available at this time,” or an offline NAT status. None of those messages, by itself, establishes whether the problem is on Ubisoft’s side or with your network or app.

Ubisoft Support acknowledged Ribera-40002 as a known issue under investigation in a reply dated July 5, 2022. It suggested restarting the game several times and gave no estimated resolution date. That reply is historical: it does not establish today’s server status or guarantee that repeated restarts will work. Read Ubisoft Support’s forum response.
Try these steps in order
- Check Ubisoft’s current service notices. Visit the Ubisoft Help connectivity and server-status hub and look for maintenance or service degradation notices relevant to Wildlands and your platform. The error is not proof of an outage.
- Fully close and relaunch Wildlands. Ubisoft Support’s July 2022 suggestion was to restart the game several times. Treat this as a low-risk, dated workaround—not a guaranteed current fix. If the game still cannot connect, continue below.
- Confirm your device is online. Check whether other online services work on the same device. On PC, Ubisoft recommends testing with a wired connection if possible; this can help isolate a Wi-Fi or connection-path problem, but cannot establish that Ubisoft’s services are healthy. See Ubisoft’s Ubisoft Connect PC connectivity guidance.
- If you play on PC, test local connection and software issues one at a time.
- Power-cycle your router or other network hardware.
- Install available Windows updates.
- Temporarily check whether background software or security tools are interfering with the connection; restore any settings you change after testing.
- Run a ping test as described in Ubisoft’s PC connectivity troubleshooting guide.
- Consider whether a school, workplace, or other managed network restricts game connections. If possible, test on a network you control.
These are general PC connectivity checks, not confirmed Ribera-40002-specific fixes. Retest Wildlands after each step so you can identify whether anything changed.
- If Ubisoft Connect PC is part of the problem, check its login state. Ubisoft’s Ubisoft Connect PC login guide covers service degradation, offline mode, app permissions, security-software blocking, and keeping the app up to date. These checks apply to launcher login problems; they are not proven fixes for every Wildlands connection error.
- Contact Ubisoft Support if the error persists. Use the support steps for your platform. For PC connectivity cases, Ubisoft’s guide asks users to attach DxDiag and MSInfo reports.
When the error points to a service issue—or a local one
A current Ubisoft maintenance or degradation notice makes a service-side explanation more plausible; in that case, local network changes may not help. If the service hub shows no relevant notice, that still does not prove the service is operating normally. A launcher login issue, network restriction, or local connection problem may also prevent access. Use the checks above to narrow down the cause rather than treating any one symptom as a diagnosis.
