Glintstone Nail is a Finger Sorcery in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. To get it, ring the bell in the Finger Ruins of Rhia during Count Ymir’s quest, then return to him at the Cathedral of Manus Metyr and buy it for 12,000 runes. The spell requires 18 Intelligence, uses one memory slot, and costs 10 FP per cast, according to community-maintained item references.

Where to get Glintstone Nail

  1. Start Count Ymir’s quest. Find Count Ymir at the Cathedral of Manus Metyr and speak to him before setting out for the Finger Ruins of Rhia.
  2. Ring the bell in the Finger Ruins of Rhia. This is the quest milestone that unlocks the spell for purchase.
  3. Return to Count Ymir. Speak with him again at the Cathedral of Manus Metyr and buy Glintstone Nail for 12,000 runes, the price listed by Eldenpedia and Game8.

Requirements and cost

Detail Listed value
Intelligence requirement 18
Memory slots 1
FP per cast 10
Purchase price 12,000 runes

These spell values are reported by the community-maintained Eldenpedia entry; the purchase steps are also covered in Game8’s guide.

How to use Glintstone Nail

  1. Memorize the sorcery at a Site of Grace. It occupies one memory slot.
  2. Equip a staff, then cast it while you have at least 10 FP available.
  3. Hold the cast input to charge the spell when you want the stronger version. The spell description says charging increases its potency.

The in-game description, as reproduced by Eldenpedia, reads: “Glintstone sorcery of Count Ymir, High Priest. One of the finger sorceries said to have been discovered in a hallowed ruin. Flings a magic nail that crumbles during flight. Charging increases potency. Count Ymir boasts that this is mere child’s play, an echo of a greater truth.”

Eldenpedia describes the projectile as slow but strongly tracking. That is a community reference’s handling note, not a first-party mechanics statement; the official publisher material does not establish detailed spell behavior or damage values.

Do you need Shadow of the Erdtree?

Yes. Glintstone Nail is classified as a Shadow of the Erdtree sorcery. Bandai Namco states that the expansion requires the Elden Ring base game; its official expansion page lists the available editions and platforms. The spell is not a separate physical item or standalone purchase.

What is known about current balance?

Bandai Namco’s Version 1.17 patch notes, dated August 27, 2026, do not establish a Glintstone Nail-specific balance change. The listed requirements and costs are reference-page values, but spell damage and stance figures have not been verified here against the current game build. Avoid treating older community balance notes as confirmed current-version values.
