What kind of game is Sons of Sparta?
The studio describes it as a 2D action platformer with hand-drawn pixel animation. Its canon story takes place during Kratos’ youth, as he trains at the Agoge alongside his brother Deimos. Combat centers on a spear and shield, and Kratos can acquire divine artifacts called Gifts of Olympus. PlayStation Blog announcement
Is Sons of Sparta the Greek trilogy remake?
No. The Greek trilogy remake is a separate project that Santa Monica Studio described as being in very early development in the same February 12 announcement. The studio’s Communications Director, Grace Orlady, wrote: “This project is still very early in development, so we ask for your patience as it will be a while before anything else can be shared.” That comment refers to the remake, not Sons of Sparta.
