Two separate reports described leaked Assassin’s Creed Shadows footage: FizX reported an apparent early posting of a developer diary in September 2024, while DSOGaming reported more than seven minutes of footage in February 2025. Neither report establishes that Ubisoft confirmed the footage’s authenticity, and the available sources do not show that the clips were the same.

What the two leak reports said

Report What it described Important qualification
FizX, September 25, 2024 An apparent premature posting of “Assassin’s Creed Shadows Developer Diary Part 2,” with discussion of seasons, weather, effects on movement and location access, and hideout customization. This was FizX’s attribution; the cited material does not independently verify the video’s provenance. Read the FizX report.
DSOGaming, February 27, 2025 “Over 7 minutes” of footage, including in-engine cut-scenes and gameplay. The report warned of possible story spoilers. “Over 7 minutes” is the reporter’s description, not an official or independently measured statistic. The article also said poor video quality made visuals difficult to assess. Read the DSOGaming report.

These are distinct reports published months apart, with different descriptions of the material. The cited sources do not establish that the 2025 footage was a continuation of, or the same footage as, the video discussed in 2024.

What the reported footage reportedly showed

The 2024 developer-diary report

FizX said the apparent diary covered seasonal cycles and weather, including effects on character movement and access to locations. It cited frozen haystacks as one example of an environmental change and also described customization of the player hideout. Those details should be understood as FizX’s account of the video, not as independently confirmed footage or a guarantee about how every mechanic works in the released game.

The 2025 footage report

DSOGaming described a mix of in-engine cut-scenes and gameplay and cautioned that the video’s poor quality limited visual judgment. It also warned readers that the clips might contain story spoilers. The article does not establish that the footage remains available, or that Ubisoft authenticated it.

Is the leaked Assassin’s Creed Shadows gameplay real?

The cited reports do not settle that question. FizX attributed the earlier video to an apparent early posting by IGN China, while DSOGaming described later footage; neither source provides an official Ubisoft confirmation of these leak incidents. Treat their accounts as secondary reporting rather than proof of provenance, and be cautious about treating a clip as representative of the final game.

Ubisoft’s official Assassin’s Creed Shadows page describes changing seasons, weather, and reactive environments as parts of the game world. That official feature description is useful context, but it does not authenticate either reported leak.

Ubisoft’s current page lists it as available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Ubisoft+, Amazon Luna, Mac through the Mac App Store, and Windows PC through the Ubisoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store. Availability can vary by platform and region; consult Ubisoft’s page for its current listing.
