What Gone Feral is
Insider Gaming describes Gone Feral as a summer-camp slasher inspired by 1980s horror. The role reversal is its defining idea: instead of hiding from a monster, you stalk targets as the horror villain. The game is presented as playable alone or online with friends.

The result is a predator’s version of a slasher sequence: observe a group, create uncertainty, choose the right disguise or tool, then exploit the reaction. The coverage does not describe a fixed mission script, so the randomized targets and items appear central to replayability.
Progression between runs
Successful progression is described as unlocking character powers, weapons, tools, lair decorations and additional areas. The lair system gives the killer a persistent home to customize, while new abilities and equipment expand the ways a later run can be approached.

Because the game is described as having consequences for failure, progression should not be read as a promise that every attempt is permanently safe or predictable. The available article does not specify the exact reset rules, save system or progression currency.
Solo and online co-op play
Gone Feral is described as supporting both solo play and online co-op. The available coverage does not establish player-count limits, matchmaking details, cross-play, or whether every mission supports both modes identically. Those details should wait for official platform and feature information.

Who is making it?
Insider Gaming identifies Nate Purkeypile as the developer and links the project to Just Purkey Games. Its report lists Purkeypile’s previous credits as including Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout 4, Fallout 76, Starfield, Metroid Prime 3 and BloodRayne 2. Treat those credits as biographical information reported by Insider Gaming.
The same coverage attributes Gone Feral’s soundtrack to Clifford Meyer, formerly of ISIS and Red Sparowes, and notes that he previously composed the soundtrack for The Axis Unseen.

What the 28 Games Later trailer does—and does not—confirm
Insider Gaming’s October 1, 2026 roundup says the horror showcase featured 28 games, including five world premieres, plus release-date and beta announcements across the event. Gone Feral appears among the showcased titles, but that event-wide description is not a release-date announcement for Gone Feral itself.
The coverage provides no confirmed launch date, price, full platform list or physical-edition information. Its Steam destination is the broader showcase page for wishlisting, not proof that Gone Feral has launched or is available to purchase. If the game is listed there, wishlisting is the appropriate way to follow updates until official store information is published.
Why the trailer stands out
Most slasher games ask players to survive a killer. Gone Feral reverses that relationship and builds its systems around being the threat: conceal your identity, shape victims’ behavior, turn harmless objects into hazards and adapt when a run goes wrong. The concept is clearest as a stealth co-op roguelike with horror’s usual power fantasy reassigned to the villain.
