A June 16, 2025 report described how to play it, but there is no confirmation that it is playable now or that Google has brought it back again.
What was Google’s Mini Cup?
Mini Cup was a small penalty-shootout game in Google Search, tied to the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. Canaltech reported its return on June 16, 2025; the available account is secondary reporting, not a Google announcement. The tournament itself featured 32 teams, according to FIFA’s strategic objectives page.
How did the game work?
Canaltech’s June 16, 2025 instructions described a mobile Search experience. Players selected a club, then swiped to shoot toward one side of the goal while a goalkeeper moved across it. The keeper reportedly became faster as a player scored consecutively.
- Open Google on a mobile phone and search for the Club World Cup.
- Choose a match and tap the ball icon shown at the lower right.
- Select a team, then swipe the ball toward one side to take a shot.
These are the steps in Canaltech’s 2025 report, not verified instructions for a currently available game. Read Canaltech’s report.

How did fans compete?
According to Canaltech, Google showed goals attributed to supporters of each participating club as well as an overall ranking. In its June 16, 2025 snapshot, Flamengo’s supporters had scored nearly 60 million goals. That is a dated figure from the report, not a current total.
Was Mini Cup part of FIFA’s Play Zone?
No. FIFA separately described its own Club World Cup Play Zone, which included Fantasy, Fives, Who Am I?, Trivia, Pairs and other contests. FIFA’s June 13, 2025 article presents that digital hub as FIFA’s offering; it does not identify Google’s Mini Cup as part of it. See FIFA’s Play Zone description.

Current availability is unconfirmed. The available reporting establishes that the game was reported in connection with the 2025 tournament, but does not confirm whether it remains accessible in October 2026 or whether Google has revived it since then. Canaltech said it contacted Google about how long the game would last and received no reply at publication.
