Gran Turismo 7’s Spec III update is already available: it launched on 4 December 2025 as Update 1.65. The free update added eight cars, two circuits and a Data Logger, among other changes. It is separate from the paid Power Pack add-on—and from the newer Spec IV update announced for 2026.
When did Gran Turismo 7 Spec III come out?
Spec III is the name of Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.65. Polyphony Digital announced it on 3 December 2025, and PlayStation said it would be available on 4 December at 12 a.m. PT, 8 a.m. GMT and 5 p.m. JST. The update requires an internet connection. PlayStation’s current listing describes it as a free update for Gran Turismo 7 owners. (Gran Turismo announcement; PlayStation availability post)

#1 Best Overall
- With the return of classic cars, iconic tracks, and fan-favourite modes like GT Simulation and Sport Mode - Gran Turismo 7 is the complete Real Driving Simulator, 25 years in the making.
- Find your line. Whether you're a racer, collector, tuner, designer, photographer or arcade fan - immerse yourself in the facets of automotive culture that matter most to you.
- Connect and compete. Join an international community of drivers to share race strategies, tuning tips, livery designs and photos, before taking to the track to go head-to-head.
Data Logger for reviewing driving
The Data Logger lets players compare a previous attempt or replay with their current driving in supported non-racing modes, including Time Trial, Licence Centre and Circuit Experience. It can display racing line, throttle and brake inputs, speed and engine RPM in real time, making it a driving-analysis tool rather than a new race event.

- New World Circuits events.
- Mission Challenge and Time Trial events in Weekly Challenges.
- A Seasonal Menu and four Extra Menus in the Café.
- The Collector Level cap rose from 50 to 70. Players can receive unlimited Brand Central invitations for levels earned above 50.
Other additions
Spec III updated the opening cinematic, added Dunlop designs for Tuning Shop tyres and default tyres on special cars (with some vehicle exceptions), and introduced new Scapes locations and lighting. The full feature list is in the Gran Turismo update announcement.

Is Spec III free, or do you need the Power Pack?
Spec III itself is a free update for Gran Turismo 7 owners. The Power Pack is a separate paid add-on for the PS5 version, not another name for Spec III. PlayStation’s 2025 announcement described the Power Pack as including 50 races across 20 themed categories, practice, qualifying and race sessions, Gran Turismo Sophy 3.0 opponents, six specially tuned cars and 5,000,000 in-game Credits. It listed a US launch price of $29.99; that is a historical US price, not a guarantee of current or regional pricing. Power Pack features require Update 1.65 and completion of Menu Book No. 9. Check the applicable store for current availability and price. (PlayStation announcement)
Gran Turismo 7 is listed for PS4 and PS5, while the cited Power Pack announcement specifies the PS5 version. See PlayStation’s Gran Turismo 7 page for the game listing.

How does Spec III relate to the 2026 Spec IV update?
Spec IV is a separate update, not a later name for Spec III. In a 3 September 2026 announcement, Polyphony Digital president Kazunori Yamauchi said Spec IV would arrive in two parts, in October and December 2026. The announcement named Sportsland SUGO for October and returning Autumn Ring for December, and said 12 cars would be added across both parts; it did not identify those cars in that post. It also previewed Online Drift Trials, Shuffle Races, new Driving Experiences, an expanded Car Viewer, progression changes, Concierge and a December Family Mode. These were plans described in that announcement, distinct from Spec III’s released content. (PlayStation Blog: Spec IV announcement)
