Granblue Fantasy: Relink supports online co-op for up to four players, but only for quests accepted at the town’s Quest Counter. To play with friends, speak to the Alliance Receptionist, create or find an online session, invite your party, and then undertake a Quest Counter mission together. The main story cannot be played as a four-player online campaign.
What you need to know first
- Each online session supports up to four players total: one host and three friends.
- Online multiplayer is built around quests from the Quest Counter, not the regular party menu or story areas.
- The main story sections remain offline, so friends cannot join your story missions as a four-player party. You can play available side, endgame, and other Quest Counter missions together instead.
- On PlayStation, online play requires an active PlayStation Plus membership. Other platforms may have their own online-service requirements; see the PlayStation store listing for the PlayStation requirement.
The official game description says that more than 100 quests can be played online through the Quest Counter.

Does Granblue Fantasy: Relink support crossplay?
Yes, in the current version. Players on Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2 can play quests together online in Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok. Crossplay was added in Ver. 2.0.2, released on July 8, 2026, ahead of the Endless Ragnarok launch on July 9, 2026. Check the official release announcement and crossplay details.
Older guides often say that PC and PlayStation players cannot play together. That was a limitation of the original 2024 release and does not describe the current crossplay-enabled version.
How to restrict matchmaking to the same platform
- Open Matchmaking Settings.
- Set Matchmaking Method to Open, if necessary.
- Change Crossplay to the same-platform option.
The Crossplay setting cannot be changed unless Matchmaking Method is set to Open. On Steam, Matchmaking Region also requires the method to be set to Open.
Nintendo Switch 2 local co-op
The Nintendo Switch 2 version also supports up to four players through Local Communication. This is separate from online crossplay. GameShare is not available when using Local Communication. See the official systems page for the platform-specific details.

There is no online option
Go to a town and speak specifically to the Alliance Receptionist at the Quest Counter. Online co-op is not started from the title screen, a story field, or the normal party-formation screen.

Friends are on different platforms
Update every copy of the game and make sure Crossplay is enabled. Crossplay was added with Ver. 2.0.2, so an outdated installation or an older guide’s instructions may be the cause.
The region or crossplay setting is unavailable
Set Matchmaking Method to Open first. The current patch notes make both settings dependent on that option.

Open matchmaking hangs or fails
Use the more direct session workflow: have one player select Create an Online Session, then have the other select Search for Online Sessions. Cygames has recommended this as an alternative when Open Matchmaking does not work reliably. See the official troubleshooting notice.
A friend joined, but cannot join the next story mission
That is normal. Online multiplayer applies to Quest Counter quests, while the main story remains offline. Complete story sections separately, then meet at the Quest Counter for multiplayer missions.

Random players are filling the session
Review the session’s invitation and privacy controls, and avoid an open public matchmaking setup if you want a private group. Restrict invitations to the party leader where that option is available.
Players own different editions
The upgrade kit for the base game and Endless Ragnarok is platform-specific: it can upgrade a copy on the same platform, but cross-platform upgrades are not supported. This concerns upgrade eligibility, not multiplayer compatibility. Players can still play cross-platform once each owns a compatible game version. See the official product information.
