What did Early Access mean for the game?
Gray Zone Warfare is a first-person open-world tactical shooter set in Southeast Asia. In its April 30, 2024 launch article, MADFINGER described Lamang as a 42 km² open world; that is the developer’s launch-era map figure, not an independently measured size. #1 Best Overall
Steam’s Early Access disclosure says the game is not complete and may change as development continues. In February 2024, MADFINGER said the Early Access period could last several years, depending on community feedback and how long it took the team to realize its vision. That was an approximate expectation, not a fixed release schedule. The developer’s Early Access & Beyond announcement also described planned features at the time; those plans should not be treated as a current feature checklist.

Yes. The current official materials reviewed through October 8, 2026 identify the game as in development, and MADFINGER has announced a future major update rather than a full-release date. The developer’s site calls Update 0.5: Rogue Ops the next milestone and describes it as a move from pre-alpha to alpha. No definite full-release date is established in those materials.
Next announced milestone: Update 0.5: Rogue Ops
MADFINGER has announced Update 0.5 for October 22, 2026, with preview access for Supporter Edition owners scheduled for October 19. These are future dates and may change. Check the official Gray Zone Warfare site for the latest announcement.
Earlier milestone: Update 0.4: Spearhead
In a March 18, 2026 devlog, MADFINGER announced Update 0.4: Spearhead for March 31, with Supporter Edition preview access from March 27. The developer said the update reworked the core loop, progression, vendors, and economy. That timing is historical; the later 0.5 announcement is the current schedule. Read the March 18, 2026 devlog.
