Apple’s US App Store editorial feature Play These Games Offline names Subway Surfers, Archero, Automatoys, It’s Literally Just Mowing, and Overboard!. Its additional suggestions include Good Pizza, Great Pizza, Wordscapes, Retro Bowl, Vampire Survivors, and Crossy Road. This is a useful discovery list, not a technical guarantee that every feature, save function, or event will be available without internet.

For puzzle or strategy play, Pocket Gamer’s updated guide also recommends The Room: Old Sins, Plague Inc., Temple Run 2, and Shadow Fight 2. Its guide notes that offline titles can lose features available when connected. Availability and behavior may differ between iOS and Android, editions, and updates, so look up the exact version on your device’s store rather than assuming the title name alone confirms offline support.
Offline multiplayer on Nintendo Switch
Let’s Play! Oink Games
Nintendo’s Australian eShop listing for Let’s Play! Oink Games explicitly says its offline mode supports as many as eight players on a single Switch console, with one Joy-Con per player. Some included games also allow solo play against CPU opponents, but the listing warns that not every game offers offline solo play. Check the rules and player count for the specific game you want to play.

Online modes are different: Nintendo says they require an internet connection and a Nintendo Switch Online membership. The same Australian listing reports “over 1,000,000 copies sold worldwide”; that is a publisher-provided sales claim, and the page gives no year for the figure.
Don’t assume every Switch game works offline
Until the Last Plane is a Switch single-player airfield-management game involving aircraft repairs and deployment, resource management, and missions. Nintendo’s US listing confirms TV, tabletop, and handheld play modes, but does not say the game can be played without an internet connection. Treat it as a genre and platform example, not a verified offline pick; consult the current listing or publisher support information before travel.

PC offline play takes preparation
On PC, “offline mode” can describe the launcher rather than guarantee that every game will run without internet. PC Gamer’s guide, last updated November 15, 2024, says most launchers offer an offline mode, while many modern games still need an initial online launch. Account checks, DRM, and game-specific services can also affect access; the guide does not establish that any one title will work in every configuration.
- While connected, install the game and complete its updates.
- Launch the game online at least once and complete any sign-in or first-run setup.
- Check the launcher’s current offline-mode instructions and enable that mode before disconnecting.
- Turn off Wi-Fi or unplug the network and try launching the game. If it fails, reconnect and resolve any pending update or authentication prompt before relying on it offline.
These steps reduce common surprises but cannot override a game’s own online requirement. Verify the specific game’s publisher or store information if offline access is essential.

How to make sure a game is ready before you travel
- Confirm the platform and edition. An offline claim for one store version or device may not apply to another.
- Download all required content. Install updates, extra files, and any content you plan to use while still connected.
- Check the mode, not just the title. A game may launch offline while online events, multiplayer, cloud saves, or some included modes do not.
- Test with the device disconnected. Close and relaunch the installed game in airplane mode or with the network disabled. This is the most practical check for your own account and device.
- Plan for power and storage. Download size and battery use vary by title and device; the cited listings do not provide a comparable storage or battery estimate.
Apple’s feature and specialist editorial guides are useful starting points, while the clearest firm mode details here come from Nintendo’s listing for Let’s Play! Oink Games. For any game you cannot afford to have fail mid-trip, verify the current platform-specific information and do a disconnected launch test before leaving.
