Grounded 2 was announced at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 8, 2025, with Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access scheduled to begin July 29, 2025. The game launched on that date; the original “releasing next month” wording is no longer current.
When did Grounded 2 come out?
Grounded 2 entered Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access on July 29, 2025. Xbox’s June 8 announcement named that date, and the developer confirmed the launch on July 29. Xbox Wire’s announcement and the developer’s launch notice document the schedule and release.
Where can you play Grounded 2?
At launch, Grounded 2 was available through Xbox Game Preview on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, and Xbox Cloud, and through Steam Early Access on PC. The developer also named Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass as launch-era access routes. Those subscription details describe the launch period; check the current listing in your region for present-day availability.
The official Xbox Store listing records July 29, 2025 as the release date for its Game Preview listing. Steam’s Grounded 2 store page lists the PC Early Access edition.

Who is developing Grounded 2?
Official Xbox material identifies Grounded 2 as an Xbox Game Studios title and names Obsidian Entertainment and Eidos-Montréal in its development. The Xbox Games Showcase announcement introduced it as a follow-up to Grounded; the trailer’s promotional tagline was “Ride together, survive together.” Xbox’s Grounded 2 page provides the official game and studio information.
Is Grounded 2’s full release date confirmed?
The July 29, 2025 date is the start of Game Preview and Early Access, not a confirmed full 1.0 release date. The cited announcement and launch notice do not establish when the game will leave preview or provide a current development roadmap. For later timing updates, rely on a new official announcement rather than treating the preview launch date as a full-release date.
