In Grounded 2, the reliable way to turn a resource discovery into useful gear is to analyze it, check what it makes, then track only the amount your next recipe needs. The in-game Resource Finder and PEEP.R help you turn that plan into a gathering run, while the right Omni-Tool function and a ranged weapon can save a return trip.
How to find a material and make it trackable
- Scan the material. Take an unfamiliar item to a Resource Analyzer. Xbox Wire’s starter guide says scanning reveals an item’s uses and unlocks crafting recipes. Analyzing natural resources also makes them trackable in the map’s Resource Finder, according to the Grounded 2 Wiki’s August 11, 2026 guide.
- Check what you actually need. Look at the recipe or upgrade you intend to make before collecting. For example, the guide says three blueberry chunks or three lingonberry chunks make one corresponding leather at a workbench.
- Mark the resource. Select the analyzed material in the map’s Resource Finder. Use the marked area to choose where to travel.
- Search nearby with PEEP.R. Once you reach the area, use PEEP.R’s highlight to help spot the resource close by.
- Collect to your target. Keep track of the amount needed, leave inventory space for materials, and head back when you have enough for the planned recipe.
If a resource does not appear in the Finder, first check whether you have analyzed that natural resource and selected it as the target. The guide describes analysis as the step that makes it trackable; it does not establish that every unscanned item will appear automatically.
Which early resource route should you choose?
| Resource and route | Best fit | Gathering method | Trade-off or risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| Acorns: south of Ranger Outpost: Snackbar; later, loop around the central oak in the Entrance region. | An early materials run, or a later circuit around the oak. | Bring the appropriate Omni-Tool function. The guide says each acorn yields one top and multiple shells; loose acorn bits can serve as food or meal ingredients. | The guide gives no verified numeric yield for shells or bits. |
| Blueberries: under the Picnic Table cloth near the newspaper. | An early leather-making trip. | Knock hanging fruit down with a ranged weapon, then chop it with the Omni-Axe. Three chunks make one blueberry leather at a workbench. | For a later bulk-farming option, the guide points to a larger area southeast of the Ice Cream Cart, where O.R.C. bees are a hazard. |
| Lingonberries: southeast corner of Pine Hill, near the Picnic Table border and map edge; go up the dirt hill into the western Hedge. | A trip when you need lingonberry leather and can manage the narrow approach. | Use a ranged weapon for berries overhead, then chop with the Omni-Axe. Three chunks make one lingonberry leather at a workbench. | Spider patrols are reported along the narrow route. |
These are guide-backed locations, not guaranteed spawn counts or measured route times. Resource availability and routes can change with updates, so use the in-game Finder to confirm your target rather than treating a map description as an exact coordinate.
What should you bring on a resource run?
- The right Omni-Tool function: bring the function needed for the material you plan to harvest; the Omni-Axe is specifically noted for chopping blueberry and lingonberry fruit.
- A ranged weapon: take one when you need to knock down hanging berries before chopping them.
- Survival supplies: pack food, water, and healing so a detour or encounter does not end the run.
- Open inventory space: leave room for the planned haul rather than carrying a full pack of unrelated items.
- A marked target: select the resource in the Finder before departing, then use PEEP.R to locate it nearby.
How resource gathering fits into survival progression
Resource runs are easier to plan when they support a specific next step, such as basic equipment or a canteen. In its July 29, 2025 starter guide, Xbox Wire recommends crafting basic weapons and armor, keeping food and water on hand, and scanning Grub Hide to unlock a canteen. The same guide recommends pursuing the Buggy questline: it says Buggies assist with travel, combat, carrying building materials, and bulk collection.

Xbox Wire also says Raw Science can be accumulated primarily by scanning items at a Resource Analyzer or completing Ranger Challenges. Treat these as progression guidance rather than a substitute for checking the material’s recipe and current availability in your own game.
