Official announcements later confirmed major releases in January, April and August 2026. Exact remaining Year Two roadmap items and dates are not verified in the readable text of Obsidian’s roadmap page, so treat any more detailed future schedule as unconfirmed.
What the Grounded 2 roadmap confirms
Grounded 2 launched in preview on July 29, 2025, with Xbox describing it as a game that would develop alongside player feedback. Xbox said a public roadmap would be shared when preview began. The game’s initial setting was Brookhollow Park, with exploration, survival, crafting and rideable bug mounts. Xbox’s June 2025 announcement set the preview launch date and outlined that approach.
The clearest published outlook for 2026 came from the Grounded 2 team in an Xbox Wire interview on December 18, 2025: a Winter Update with a community garden early in the year, a mid-sized Spring update and a very large Summer update. The team also said it was accelerating building additions into the first half of 2026 and wanted to expand Buggies and buggy features. These were planned seasonal beats, not firm release dates. The seasonal labels help explain the team’s intent, but they should not be mistaken for exact release windows. The dated announcements establish when the updates arrived; they do not prove that every planned feature was delivered exactly as originally described.

What has shipped
Toxic Tangle — January 27, 2026
Obsidian called Toxic Tangle Grounded 2’s first major content update. It expanded the park with the Garden biome, creatures, armor and weapons, trinkets, building sets and other additions. The announcement also said Playgrounds Mode would return, entering public test beta in February. See Obsidian’s Toxic Tangle announcement.
Beat the Heat — April 14, 2026
This live update brought King Dozer, buggy progression, the Sinkhole Anthill, new creatures and resources, changes to ranged blocking, and other combat and survival improvements. It also included seasonal Easter content and Playgrounds Mode. See Obsidian’s Beat the Heat announcement.

Into the Abyss — August 11, 2026
Into the Abyss added a large underwater experience, including the Abyss, the Bayou and Mountains, underwater base building, creatures, expanded progression and an amphibious Buggy. Obsidian’s PlayStation announcement said the PS5 release arrived on the same date. See the Into the Abyss update details and PlayStation’s release announcement.
Feature Updates and Content Updates are different
Obsidian clarified its update terminology on December 2, 2025. Feature Updates are smaller releases focused on areas such as technology, performance and mechanics; Content Updates are larger additions, such as the Winter Update. The December Feature Update included Coziness and PEEP.R 2K. Obsidian’s December Feature Update notes describe the distinction and release.

This distinction matters when reading a roadmap: a smaller feature-focused release is not interchangeable with a major content expansion. The December terminology also does not, by itself, establish the size or contents of any future update.

Obsidian’s official Grounded 2 Roadmap page is live, but the roadmap graphic is embedded as an image and its details are not available in the page’s readable text. As a result, specific unshipped Year Two features, quarters and release windows cannot be verified from that page’s text. The latest verified major update in the dated official announcements covered here is Into the Abyss, released August 11, 2026; those announcements do not establish what comes after it.

For a reliable status check, compare any claimed upcoming feature or date with the current roadmap graphic and a dated Obsidian announcement. Do not treat community speculation, a past seasonal forecast or an update’s name as confirmation of a future release.
