GTA 5 cheats are for Story Mode, not GTA Online. Enter a platform-specific controller sequence, type a cheat word on PC, or use an in-game phone number where supported. Cheats disable achievements or trophies for the current session, so save first if you want to keep pursuing them.
Before you enter a GTA 5 cheat
- Use Story Mode: the codes covered by the specialist guide do not work in GTA Online.
- Save your game first: cheats disable achievements or trophies for the rest of that session. Reload a clean save when you want to pursue achievements or trophies again.
- Match the platform: controller combinations differ by console. The PC cheat words and phone numbers are separate input methods; use the matching entry for your platform.
- Expect some restrictions: a code may not work during a mission or until its Story Mode unlock requirement is met.
- There is no built-in money cheat listed by the referenced guides.
Rockstar’s support hub lists GTA V for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC: Rockstar Games Support. That platform coverage does not make the cheat sequences official Rockstar instructions; Rockstar’s cited support pages do not publish a cheat catalogue.

How to enter cheats by platform
PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S
During Story Mode gameplay, enter the button combination for your exact console using the directional pad for directions. Use the relevant PlayStation or Xbox sequence; do not substitute an equivalent-looking button from another platform’s column.
PC
Type the cheat word in the game’s console. PC Gamer says the console commonly opens with the tilde key (~), or the key immediately to the left of 1 on many keyboards. Keyboard layouts vary, so check your control settings if that key does not open it. Enter the corresponding PC cheat word after opening the console.

- Please note that although this game is Region Free or Region Unlocked and will work on all systems, this is the European version and may differ from the local version in age rating, labeling or instructions.
In-game phone
Open the character’s phone, select its dial pad, enter the cheat number, then call it. The specialist guide says phone cheats work on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, but not PS3 or Xbox 360. Phone support does not mean every cheat is usable in every situation.
Find the code for the effect you want
Cheat sequences should be presented in platform-specific columns, with the effect named alongside the PS4/PS5, Xbox, and PC input. The referenced guides support those input methods, but the available source material does not establish a verified code-by-code catalogue. Rather than risk giving you a mistyped or mismatched sequence, use a current specialist code list and check its exact platform column before entering a code. GTA BOOM’s guide is dated June 22, 2023 and marked updated August 20, 2026; its sequence claims are from that publisher, not an official Rockstar list: GTA BOOM.

If a cheat does not work
- Confirm you are in Story Mode. The cited cheat guide says these codes do not work in GTA Online.
- Check the platform entry. Confirm that you are using the controller sequence, PC word, or phone number for your platform.
- Enter the sequence promptly and accurately. On console, use the directional pad for directions and avoid pausing between inputs.
- Check your current activity. Some cheats may be unavailable during missions.
- Check for an unlock requirement. Some codes may require progress in Story Mode.
- Reload a clean save if needed. This restores a session without cheats when you want to pursue achievements or trophies.
Account requirements are separate from cheats
Rockstar says a Rockstar Games account is required on PC for installation, online play, and certain online features. On console, an account is not required for Story Mode, although some online features do require one. These are account requirements, not prerequisites for entering Story Mode cheats. See Rockstar’s account requirements (dated October 4, 2024).
