Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced for PC launched on March 4, 2025, and drew a Mixed Steam rating in launch-period reporting. One Steam reviewer called the update “the bare minimum,” but that was an individual player’s assessment—not a verified consensus or an official judgment. The edition promoted visual and audio upgrades alongside GTA Online content; whether those changes justify installing it depends on your PC, your interest in Online, and how much weight you place on the launch reception.
What happened at launch?
Steam lists March 4, 2025, as the PC release date for Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced. A report published the following day said Steam showed a Mixed rating, with 50% positive among 5,819 user reviews. That is a dated launch snapshot, not the current rating. Game World Observer’s March 5 report records the figure; Steam’s product listing identifies the PC edition and release date.

A Steam user review posted on launch day supplied the “bare minimum” wording: “Rockstar truly did the bare minimum improving the game & the absolute maximum integrating GTA+.” The reviewer’s assessment was tied to complaints about removed content and text chat, migration eligibility, settings, and GTA+ integration. Those are that player’s claims, not findings established across the player base. Read the attributed Steam review.
What did Enhanced promise on PC?
Steam describes the Enhanced PC edition as upgraded with “stunning visuals, faster loading, 3D audio,” and additional GTA Online content. Those are the store’s promotional claims, not independent test results. No benchmark here establishes how much faster loading is, how the visuals compare across hardware, or whether every player will notice a meaningful improvement.

For a player focused on the single-player campaign, the practical question is whether the PC’s visual and audio changes matter enough to warrant using the Enhanced edition. GTA Online additions and GTA+ integration are a separate consideration; they should not be treated as benefits to the single-player experience. The available evidence does not establish a complete feature-by-feature launch comparison between Enhanced and Legacy.
Can your PC run the Enhanced edition?
Rockstar publishes separate requirements for Enhanced and Legacy. Its requirements page, last updated December 10, 2025, lists these specifications for Enhanced. Requirements may change, so check the official requirements page before buying or installing.

These are Rockstar’s published minimum and recommended specifications, not a guarantee of a particular frame rate or image quality. Check your system against the current official list rather than assuming that meeting Legacy requirements is sufficient.

Launch reception and the game’s later state are different questions. Rockstar’s support notes record Enhanced stability and security fixes in March 2025, including fixes related to ray tracing. Its July 2025 notes say an option for high-resolution ray-traced reflections was added. That reflection option was a later addition, not a feature to assume was present at launch. Rockstar also acknowledged regional GTA+ availability issues in a March 4, 2025 support notice. That launch notice does not establish availability in every region today. If GTA+ access is important to your decision, confirm current availability for your region rather than relying on a launch-day report. Rockstar Support documents the notice.

Is Enhanced worth installing?
- Consider it if you want the PC edition’s promoted visual and audio upgrades or its additional GTA Online content, and your system meets Rockstar’s current Enhanced requirements.
- Be cautious about assuming that the launch review snapshot describes the current Steam rating or that the store’s performance claims apply equally to every PC.
- Compare editions before switching if you rely on particular content, chat, settings, or migration eligibility. The launch-day complaints about those points came from an individual review, and the evidence here does not independently settle each claim.
- Keep single-player and Online separate when weighing GTA+ or Online content; those features do not by themselves demonstrate a campaign upgrade.
