If GTA 5 Enhanced will not launch on PC, first identify where it stops: the game may be missing from your library, the launcher may fail to hand off your account, the game may report a DirectX or C++ error, or its process may open and close. Restart your PC, launch the game from the storefront where you own it, and verify its files there. Then work through the checks below in order, using the exact error message to choose the relevant branch.
Before changing anything, identify the failure
Note what happens after you click Play, including the exact error text or code. Also note whether you own the game through Rockstar, Steam, or Epic, whether Story Mode or Online is involved, and whether a game window or process appears before it closes. Those details distinguish a missing library entry or launcher handoff problem from a game-file, prerequisite, security-software, or compatibility issue.

- Game is absent from the library: check the owning storefront’s library and filters before treating it as a launch crash.
- Launcher or account message: follow the owning platform’s instructions; launching through another launcher can complicate ownership and sign-in handoff.
- DirectX, D3D, or C++ message: use the bundled prerequisites in the game installation, as described below.
- Window opens and closes, or there is no clear message: verify files, check drivers and security software, and collect logs and system diagnostics if needed.
Restart, launch from the owning platform, and verify files
- Restart the PC. This clears a stuck game or launcher process before you try again.
- Open the storefront where you own GTA 5 Enhanced—Rockstar Games Launcher, Steam, or Epic Games Launcher—and start the game from its library. Make sure the launcher is signed in to the account that owns the game.

Check that your PC meets Enhanced’s requirements
GTA 5 Enhanced has higher PC requirements than the original/Legacy version. The following figures are the requirements shown on the Steam listing; storefront listings can change, so check the current listing for your edition before making a hardware decision. Storage means available space, and both tiers specify an SSD.

These are Steam’s listed minimum and recommended specifications for Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced. If your PC is below the minimum, software troubleshooting may not resolve a compatibility problem. Do not buy or replace hardware solely because the game will not launch: first compare your actual system with the listing and rule out the software and launcher checks.
Update the graphics driver and repair named prerequisites
Update the graphics driver
Install the current driver offered by your GPU manufacturer for your graphics card, then restart the PC and retry. Use the manufacturer’s official driver source rather than third-party driver download sites.

If the error names DirectX, D3D, or C++
Rockstar says an error mentioning Visual C++ (“C++”), Direct 3D (“D3D”), or Microsoft DirectX (“DirectX”) may indicate an issue with the DirectX or C++ installation. Open GTA 5 Enhanced’s installation folder, find its Redistributables directory, and run the bundled DirectX or Visual C++ installer relevant to the error. Rockstar’s troubleshooting guide describes this route. Avoid downloading individual DLL files from unofficial sites.
Check Epic library visibility and its EOS SDK error separately
If Enhanced is missing from your Epic library
This may be a library display problem, not a game launch failure. Epic recommends resetting library filters, restarting Epic Games Launcher, and clearing its cache. Follow the instructions in Epic’s GTA V Enhanced support article, then check the library again.

If the exact error says “Unable to initialize the Epic Online Services SDK”
Use the steps in Epic’s dedicated EOS SDK error support article. It directs affected players through Epic’s support process and to Rockstar if further help is needed. Do not treat this named error as interchangeable with a missing library tile or a DirectX/C++ prerequisite error.

If verification and the relevant prerequisite repair do not help, check whether your antivirus or other security software quarantined or blocked a game component. Review its alerts or quarantine history before changing protection settings; do not broadly disable security software or restore a file unless you can confirm it belongs to the legitimate game installation.

Escalate with the error and diagnostic details
If the same failure persists, contact Rockstar Support and include the exact error text or code, the storefront you launch from, the game build if shown, and what you already tried. Attach DxDiag and MSInfo reports and the relevant launcher log excerpt when requested. If the error is specific to Epic’s EOS SDK, include the steps from Epic’s support page and follow its escalation route as well.
