Fortnite update v33.20 arrived on January 14, 2025, bringing Festival Season 7 and new creator tools; Epic announced Godzilla’s Battle Royale event for January 17. The available official v33.20 release notes cover Creative, Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) and Verse—not a complete Battle Royale changelog. These are historical updates: Festival Season 7 ended April 8, 2025, and Chapter 6 Season 1 ended February 21, 2025.
What changed in Fortnite v33.20?
Epic’s v33.20 Fortnite Ecosystem Updates and Release Notes, published January 14, 2025, documents changes for Creative, UEFN and Verse. It should not be read as the full Battle Royale patch notes.

Creative and UEFN additions
- Air and Water Sprites from Chapter 6 Season 1 Battle Royale became available in the Wildlife Spawner device.
- A new Earth Sprite device lets players trade a weapon for a Legendary weapon. Creators can customize its loot pool and other behavior.
- Mythic, Rare and Uncommon Hunting Rifles were added.
- The notes also cover ecosystem, Verse, Scene Graph and Editor updates, alongside bug fixes.
Epic listed a known issue in which Chapter 5 Season 1 Core Weapons had animation regressions when used with the First Person Device. Improvements were expected in later January updates.
What was new in Festival Season 7?
Festival Season 7 began with v33.20 on January 14, 2025, and ended April 8, 2025. Hatsune Miku was the season’s featured icon. Epic’s 2025 announcement said she was featured in more than 100,000 songs; that figure is Epic’s statement, not an independently verified or updated count. Read Epic’s Season 7 announcement.

Music Pass: free and premium rewards
The Music Pass combined free and premium rewards in one track, with progression earned through XP in any Fortnite experience. Epic listed the pass at 1,400 V-Bucks or as included with Fortnite Crew. Rewards included the Neko Hatsune Miku Outfit, instruments, Jam Tracks and other items. Epic said pass rewards were not exclusive and might later be purchasable in the Shop; that historical possibility does not establish whether any item is available now.
Main Stage local multiplayer
Season 7 added local multiplayer on PlayStation and Xbox for up to four players using one console in a Festival Main Stage session. Players had to party up in the Lobby. Each player needed an active Epic Games account and a platform account, and the Epic account had to permit T-rated experiences. Platform guest accounts could not be used.

- · V-Bucks are in-game currency that can be spent in Fortnite Battle Royale, Creative, and Save the World modes. In Battle Royale and Creative you can purchase new customization items like New Outfits, Gliders, Pickaxes, Emotes, and Wraps! In Save the World, you can purchase X-Ray Llamas that contain weapon and trap schematics, plus new Heroes, and more!
Battle Stage modes and instrument cosmetics
The Battle Stage added four instrument-specific modes: Lead Only, Drums Only, Vocals Only and Bass Only. Some earned or purchased Guitars, Basses, Keytars, Mics and drumsticks could be equipped as a Pickaxe or Back Bling. These were in-game cosmetic uses, not physical instruments or accessories.

When did Godzilla arrive in Fortnite?
Epic announced that the Godzilla Battle Royale event would begin January 17, 2025, following the v33.20 update. Epic described a portal with a special chance to appear during a match; the first player to enter became Godzilla. The event mechanics below describe that limited-time event, not current gameplay instructions. See Epic’s Godzilla announcement.

Godzilla’s abilities and the fight against it
- Godzilla could use Roar to reveal nearby players, Mighty Stomp to send them flying and Heat Ray against players and structures.
- Other players could target Godzilla’s weak spots and collect dropped Godzilla Fragments for health and dash charges.
- The Rail Gun was unvaulted for the event.
- The player who dealt the most damage could earn the Godzilla Medallion and Burst Quad Launcher.
Outfit quests and other in-game items
Owners of the Chapter 6 Season 1 Battle Pass could unlock the Godzilla Evolved Outfit by completing quests starting January 17. The quest window ended when the season closed on February 21, 2025, at 2 AM ET. Epic also described Mechagodzilla and Kong cosmetics and a Nissan Skyline GT-R (R32) in-game car bundle; these were virtual game items.
