Choose by the sound you want, not by a gameplay benefit. Radio Los Santos or West Coast Classics fit hip-hop; Los Santos Rock Radio or Channel X fit rock and punk; Soulwax FM or FlyLo FM fit electronic music; Non-Stop-Pop FM covers mainstream pop; and Blaine County Radio or West Coast Talk Radio are better when you want conversation between songs. GTA V editions and GTA Online updates do not all share the same station list, while PC has the separate Self Radio feature.
How to choose a GTA 5 radio station
Radio is an atmosphere choice in Grand Theft Auto V. A station can make a long freeway run feel aggressive, relaxed, nostalgic or comic, but there is no documented speed, damage, mission or money bonus for selecting one. Treat the recommendations below as soundtrack matches. Your best choice depends on three things: genre, how much uninterrupted music or talk you want, and which version of the game you own.

Best stations for rap and hip-hop
Radio Los Santos: contemporary hip-hop
Start with Radio Los Santos if you want a modern rap station built around the sound of Los Santos. It is the straightforward choice for players who want current-feeling hip-hop while moving through missions, races or free roam. Its identity is contemporary rather than archival, so it contrasts with the older West Coast focus of West Coast Classics.
#1 Best Overall
- STUNNING VISUALS — Enhanced levels of fidelity and performance with new graphics modes featuring up to 4K resolution, up to 60 frames per second, HDR options, ray tracing, improved texture quality, and more
- FASTER LOADING — Quicker access to the action as the world of Los Santos and Blaine County load in faster than ever before.
- ADAPTIVE TRIGGERS AND HAPTIC FEEDBACK — Feel every moment through the DualSense controller, from directional damage to weather effects, rough road surfaces to explosions, and more.
- TEMPEST 3D AUDIO — Hear the sounds of the world with pinpoint precision: the throttle of a stolen supercar, the rattle of neighbouring gunfire, the roar of a helicopter overhead, and more.
- Please note that although this game is Region Free or Region Unlocked and will work on all systems, this is the European version and may differ from the local version in age rating, labeling or instructions.
West Coast Classics: regional throwback rap
West Coast Classics is the better match when the setting matters as much as the beat. Its West Coast hip-hop focus gives driving a deliberately regional, classic-rap character. Choose it for a relaxed cruise, a lowrider-style trip or any session where you want established West Coast sounds instead of newer production.
iFruit Radio and The Lab: broader or producer-led alternatives
iFruit Radio expands the rap choice with grime and international hip-hop. It suits players who do not want a narrowly Los Angeles-centered selection. The Lab is different again: it presents original music from The Alchemist and Oh No with guest artists, making it a good option when you want a producer-led set rather than a conventional genre station.
Best stations for rock and punk
Los Santos Rock Radio: classic-rock driving
Los Santos Rock Radio is the safest starting point for classic-rock fans. The station provides a familiar guitar-led soundtrack without the deliberately abrasive edge of punk. One editorial ranking also places it among the more broadly accessible rock choices; that is an opinion about fit, not a gameplay or audience measurement.

Channel X: punk and hardcore intensity
Channel X is the choice for punk and hardcore. Its faster, harsher character can make a chase or reckless freeway run feel more urgent, but that energy is subjective. The station does not make the vehicle faster or improve combat; it only changes what you hear.
Vinewood Boulevard Radio and Kult FM
Vinewood Boulevard Radio covers an alternative-rock lane for listeners who want something between classic rock and hardcore. Kult FM is another later-added rock-oriented option. Because later GTA Online content is not present in every release, check the station wheel in your edition before planning a playlist around either one.
Rank #2
- Experience the world of Grand Theft Auto V like never before with the power of the PlayStation 4.
- Explore the City of Los Santos, the countryside and even the ocean.
- Play through an epic single player experience using three very different characters.
- Join your friends in GTA Online and see what trouble you can cause.
- Play golf, tennis, see a film or call someone and just hang out.
Best stations for electronic and dance music
Soulwax FM: club energy
Soulwax FM is the most direct choice for electronic and dance listening. It works well during long highway stretches, night drives and activities where you want a consistent beat rather than a talk interruption.
FlyLo FM: experimental beats
FlyLo FM is better for players who want electronic music with a more experimental, beat-focused character. Rockstar’s December 15, 2020 Title Update 1.52 notes say that FlyLo FM received new mixes and tracks, so the station’s GTA Online-era presentation is not identical to its earliest version.
Los Santos Underground Radio and The Music Locker
Los Santos Underground Radio is the later-content option for an underground dance atmosphere. The Music Locker is connected to the underground nightclub venue introduced in GTA Online and its DJ content. These stations and features belong to the evolving online lineup, not a guarantee that every original GTA V console release contains them.
Best stations for pop, soul and funk
Non-Stop-Pop FM: familiar mainstream pop
Non-Stop-Pop FM is the uncomplicated pop pick. Choose it when you want bright, recognizable songs that sit easily under conversation with friends or casual free roam.
The Lowdown 91.1 and Space 103.2
The Lowdown 91.1 is the soul choice, with a warmer and more relaxed feel. Space 103.2 is the funk alternative when you want a stronger groove and more rhythmic momentum without switching to rock or electronic music.
Rank #3
blonded Los Santos 97.8 FM
blonded Los Santos 97.8 FM adds a curated modern pop-and-soul direction. It is useful for players whose taste sits between mainstream pop and slower, moodier contemporary selections. As with other later additions, its presence depends on the edition and mode you are playing.
Country, reggae and Latin choices
Rebel Radio: country roads
Rebel Radio is the natural choice for country. It complements Blaine County scenery and rural routes, especially when you want the radio to reinforce the environment rather than contrast with it.
Blue Ark: reggae relaxation
Blue Ark gives you reggae for a more laid-back session. It fits beach routes, slower exploration and players who prefer a gentle groove over high-intensity driving music.
East Los FM and MOTOMAMI Los Santos
East Los FM focuses on Latin and regional Mexican styles, making it the stronger choice when Spanish-language or regional identity is central to your listening. MOTOMAMI Los Santos is a later Latin-focused option in GTA Online. The two should not be treated as interchangeable station names across all platforms: confirm which one your game exposes.
Talk radio versus nonstop music
West Coast Talk Radio
West Coast Talk Radio is for players who want presenters, sketches and spoken segments between songs. It changes the pacing of a drive more than a music-only station does, so it suits free roam and exploratory play better than activities where you want an uninterrupted beat.

Blaine County Radio
Blaine County Radio is another talk-oriented choice, with a rural setting that pairs naturally with country roads and desert travel. A GTA Intel editorial ranking calls it particularly talk-heavy; that description is an editorial judgment about programming balance, not an official percentage or technical statistic.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Original GTA V stations, GTA Online additions and version limits
There is no single station list that applies identically to every copy of GTA V. The original release lineup, later GTA Online additions and PC Self Radio are separate categories. Older PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions do not have the full post-launch lineup described for newer GTA Online releases, according to current secondary station coverage.
What Rockstar’s 2020 update records
Rockstar Games Customer Support’s Title Update 1.52 notes, dated December 15, 2020, record two new GTA Online stations: K.U.L.T 99.1 FM and Still Slipping Los Santos. The same notes say Worldwide FM and FlyLo FM received new mixes and tracks, and describe The Music Locker underground nightclub and its DJ content. Additional dated entries on that support page record Still Slipping Los Santos and The Music Locker as additions on December 22, 2020. These notes document GTA Online update history; they do not mean every older game mode or console edition was retroactively given the same stations.
Why station counts conflict
Published totals depend on what is counted. A March 22, 2026 GTA Intel article says GTA V launched in 2013 with 18 radio stations and approximately 240 licensed tracks, but that figure is an editorial claim rather than a Rockstar-verified statistic. A current secondary guide describes 17 stations in the original lineup while counting later additions and PC Self Radio in its broader total. Because the definitions and editions differ, use the station names visible in your own radio wheel instead of relying on one headline number.
Technical visibility caveat
A Cfx.re station reference tied to game build 3258 warns that indexes 24 and above are not visible in the radio wheel even though assigning one can select a radio-wheel station. This is technical corroboration for modding and build-specific behavior, not a consumer-facing promise that a hidden index represents a playable station in every edition.

How to set up PC Self Radio
Self Radio is a PC-only feature. It does not turn a PlayStation or Xbox copy into a custom-music player. On PC, use supported files and the in-game scan process:
- Put non-DRM music files or shortcuts in
Documents > Rockstar Games > GTA V > User Music. - Start GTA V and open
Pause Menu > Settings > Audio. - Run a quick scan first. If tracks are missing, run a full music scan.
- Open the vehicle radio wheel and select Self Radio.
The current setup guidance lists MP3, WMA and M4A files without DRM. Self Radio offers three playback modes:
- Sequential: plays tracks in order.
- Shuffle: randomizes the track order.
- Radio: mixes your music with advertisements and DJ speech; this mode does not allow skips.
If a file does not appear, verify that it is in the exact User Music folder, is not DRM-protected and is included after the scan. Keep in mind that the feature changes the soundtrack only; it does not add a new gameplay system or grant an advantage.
A practical decision path
- Pick your dominant genre. Use the genre table rather than choosing by station name alone.
- Decide whether you want uninterrupted music. Choose a music station for continuous tracks, or West Coast Talk Radio/Blaine County Radio for more spoken programming.
- Check your edition and mode. Later GTA Online stations may not exist in an original or older console release.
- On PC, decide whether personal files matter. If they do, set up Self Radio and select Sequential, Shuffle or Radio mode.
- Change stations by activity. A high-energy punk or electronic station may suit a chase, while soul, reggae, country or talk may fit exploration better. This is a mood preference, not a change to mission difficulty or vehicle performance.
Which one fits your play style?
For most players, the answer is a starting pair rather than one permanent winner: Radio Los Santos and West Coast Classics cover the two main hip-hop moods; Los Santos Rock Radio and Channel X cover classic rock versus punk; Soulwax FM and FlyLo FM cover straightforward dance versus more experimental electronic music. Non-Stop-Pop FM, the soul-and-funk stations, Rebel Radio, Blue Ark and the Latin options fill the remaining genre preferences, while the talk stations and PC Self Radio handle format needs that music-only channels cannot.
Because station availability changes with platform, edition and GTA Online updates, use those matches as a listening guide and then confirm the names shown on your in-game radio wheel.
