The 24:49 figure comes from a single secondary report about an alleged file called “Extended Leek,” which Shattered.io says appeared on October 8, 2026, and which it describes in an update dated October 9, 2026. The “27 minutes” figure is that same report’s rounding of Rockstar’s official video, “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look,” dated August 27, 2026. Rockstar published its video, so its existence and date are established. The leaked file is an unverified claim, so the two runtimes can be reported side by side but should not be treated as a confirmed like-for-like comparison.
Two different videos with different levels of evidence
The headline sets an alleged file against an official presentation, and the two are not the same kind of object. Rockstar Games is the source of the official video. Everything about the alleged file, including its name, upload date, and length, comes from one outlet’s reporting. The table below separates what is established from what is only reported.

The runtime figures and how precise they are
24:49 for the alleged file
The 24:49 runtime is the length Shattered.io reports for the alleged “Extended Leek” file. It is not an official Rockstar duration, and it is not a measurement that outside reviewers have confirmed. It describes the file as reported, and it says nothing about whether that file contains genuine game footage or is an edit of the official presentation.
About 27 minutes for Rockstar’s Extended Look
Rockstar’s official page confirms the video title, the August 27, 2026 date, and the in-game capture description. It does not state an exact runtime. The “27 min” in the headline is a rounded figure from the same secondary report. Treat 27:00 as an approximation, not as the official length, and avoid quoting it as an exact measurement.

Rockstar’s earlier trailers
Rockstar’s official page also lists two earlier, shorter videos. These are separate from the Extended Look and should not be confused with it:
- Trailer 2: 2:47, released by Rockstar Games in 2025.
- Trailer 1: 1:31, released by Rockstar Games in 2023.
What is established about the alleged file
As of Shattered.io’s October 9, 2026 update, the following points are reported and none of them has been independently confirmed:
Rank #2
- Grand Theft Auto V blends storytelling and gameplay in new ways as players repeatedly jump in and out of the lives of the game's three lead characters, playing all sides of the game's interwoven story.;Number of Players: Multiplayer; ESRB Content: Blood and gore|Intense violence|Mature humor|Nudity|Strong language|Strong sexual content|Use of drugs and alcohol; Genre: Action and Adventure
- A file labeled “Extended Leek” surfaced on October 8, 2026, according to the report.
- The report gives its runtime as 24:49.
- Neither Rockstar Games nor Take-Two Interactive had issued an on-record confirmation or denial.
- No outlet had independently verified the footage as authentic gameplay.
- No named person’s on-record statement about the file is documented in the coverage.
- The file’s original source, chain of custody, and technical metadata are not established in the available coverage.
Because of these gaps, the alleged file should be described as an alleged upload, and any scene, feature, build, or character seen in it should not be presented as confirmed GTA VI content.

- GTA 5 SUR PS3 / TAKE TWO - ROCKSTAR GAME
Rockstar’s Newswire announcement for the presentation, also dated August 27, 2026, said the presentation was playing on Netflix and would appear on Rockstar’s official YouTube channel and the GTA VI site. The same announcement states that Grand Theft Auto VI is coming November 19, 2026, to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. These statements concern the official release and presentation. They do not address the alleged October 8 file, and Rockstar has not been documented as responding to it.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What would change the assessment
The current reporting would need to be updated if any of the following appeared:
Recommended Free Tools
- An on-record statement from Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive confirming or denying the file.
- Documented independent verification that the footage is genuine game capture.
- Technical evidence establishing where the file came from and whether it has been altered.
- A verifiable link between the alleged file and the official Extended Look, which would be needed before calling it a cut of that presentation.
Until one of these exists, the runtime comparison is a comparison between an official video of approximate length and an unverified claim of a specific length.
