No—the “open-world replica” is not an early release of GTA 6. It is Project Vice, a fan-made map mod for GTA V that approximates a speculative version of the next game’s setting. The available report on it is dated March 20, 2025, and does not confirm that its download or compatibility details remain current.
What is Project Vice?
Notebookcheck reported that YouTuber and modder Dark Space created Project Vice inside GTA V, drawing on details from the official GTA VI trailer, leaks and speculation. That makes it an unofficial fan project—not a Rockstar game, an early GTA VI build or an authoritative version of Rockstar’s planned map.
The report described Vice Beach and the Venetian Islands as recreated at a claimed 1:1 scale. It also noted that AI traffic and nighttime lighting were absent during development. Those details describe the project as covered in March 2025; they do not independently establish the current map’s contents or measure its scale. Notebookcheck’s March 20, 2025 report included a one-hour video as an initial look.
Where can you play it, and is it still available?
Notebookcheck said Project Vice was available for GTA V Enhanced Edition and FiveM servers, with a free download through the Dark Space Studios Discord channel. That is historical availability information, not confirmation of a working current download, current requirements or compatibility with a particular GTA V version.

Rockstar’s official GTA VI page lists the November 19, 2026 release date and PS5 and Xbox Series X|S platforms. Its June 24, 2026 announcement describes GTA VI as a single-player experience for those platforms.

- If you saw “GTA 6 is now playable,” the report behind that claim means a fan-made GTA V mod—not GTA VI itself.
