As of October 13, 2026, the official listings consulted show those console platforms but announce neither a PC version nor a PC release date. If you only play on PC and can wait, hold off on buying hardware for GTA VI until Rockstar makes an official PC announcement.
The decision is therefore less about comparing two available versions than about choosing between a confirmed console launch and waiting for news about a PC edition. Your existing hardware, the platform ecosystem you prefer, the announced game editions, and the actual local cost of a new setup are the practical factors to weigh.

What platforms are confirmed for GTA VI?
Rockstar and the platform-holder listings consulted identify PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as the launch platforms for November 19, 2026. PlayStation’s listing also specifies PS5 Pro. The game is not listed for PS4 on that page. See the Rockstar platform and editions page, PlayStation listing, Xbox listing, and Take-Two’s announcement.

The distinction matters: a console platform and launch date are confirmed, while a PC version remains unannounced in the listings reviewed.

For console buyers, the currently named choices are the PS5 family—including PS5 Pro—and Xbox Series X|S. The listings reviewed do not name PS4. Do not assume that an older console will run GTA VI simply because it ran an earlier Grand Theft Auto game. Confirm the platform shown on the exact edition listing before buying.
Is GTA VI coming to PC?
No PC version or PC release date has been announced in the official listings consulted as of October 13, 2026. Rockstar, PlayStation, and Xbox list console availability, not a PC platform or PC date. There is therefore no confirmed PC edition to compare on price, requirements, features, or performance.
This wording is deliberately narrow. The absence of a PC announcement in the listings reviewed is not proof that a PC version will never exist. It also is not evidence that one is definitely planned. A forecast, rumor, or estimate is not an official release date, so avoid treating a predicted year or delay as a commitment from Rockstar.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?

For a PC-only player, this makes the choice a question of timing and willingness to buy a console—not a comparison between two announced editions. If you are willing to wait, waiting avoids purchasing a console just for a game whose PC release has not been confirmed. If you need to play on launch day, choose one of the listed console families. Do not treat a forecast about a possible PC release as a date announced by Rockstar.
There are also no official PC system requirements in the listings consulted. That means there is no factual basis here for recommending a graphics card, processor, memory amount, storage capacity, or upgrade budget for GTA VI on PC. A generic PC upgrade cannot guarantee access to a game version that has not been announced. If you already want a PC upgrade for other reasons, assess it on those needs rather than assuming it will prepare your system for a GTA VI PC release.

Which option fits your situation?
| Your situation | Practical choice | What is established |
|---|---|---|
| You want to play on November 19, 2026 | PS5, PS5 Pro, or Xbox Series X|S | These are the console platforms named in the listings consulted; no PC launch date is listed. |
| You already own a listed console | Start by considering the console you have | Using existing compatible hardware may avoid buying another system. Check the exact edition and platform on the retailer’s listing. |
| You play only on PC and can wait | Wait for an official PC announcement | No PC version, date, or PC requirements are established in the official sources consulted. |
| You do not own a listed console but want to play at launch | Compare the full local cost of each compatible console setup | The sources do not establish current local console prices or comparable performance figures. |
| You own a PS4 or another unlisted system | Do not assume it is compatible; check for a listing naming your system | PlayStation’s page does not list PS4, and the consulted sources name PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. |
For a new console purchase, compare the total cost where you live: the system and the game edition you want. Add other items only if a retailer explicitly indicates they are required for your chosen setup; the consulted announcements do not establish extra accessories or services as a GTA VI requirement. The official announcements do not give current local console prices, so a reliable universal cost comparison cannot be made here.
If you already own a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, the console purchase is not part of your incremental cost. You still need to budget for the game, and you should confirm that the edition you select is for the console you own. If you own only a PC, the choice is different: either pay for a compatible console setup to play at launch, or wait without knowing whether or when a PC edition will be announced. A purchase aimed at a future PC version carries uncertainty that buying for a listed console launch does not.
Do not compare only the announced game prices and conclude that one platform is cheaper overall. The listed $79.99 and $99.99 prices are for game editions, not console bundles or a complete setup. The cost of a new system varies by country and retailer, and local taxes or pricing can change the total. Check current local listings for the console and exact edition, then compare like with like.
PS5 features and what the claims do—and do not—show
PlayStation’s GTA VI page describes Tempest 3D Audio, SSD-enabled fast loading, DualSense haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and controller-speaker effects. These are PlayStation’s descriptions of platform features, not independent comparative test results. They help explain what PlayStation is promoting for its version, but they do not tell you how the game will compare with Xbox in a matched test.
In a June 24, 2026 post, PlayStation said, “Grand Theft Auto VI will play best on PS5 by taking advantage of PS5’s immersive features to deliver a deeply engaging single-player experience when it launches on November 19.” That is a platform-holder promotional statement, not a measured comparison of PS5 against Xbox or a future PC edition. The official sources consulted do not provide comparable GTA VI frame rates, resolutions, or technical feature details across platforms.

Xbox confirms Series X|S availability in its listing, but the sources consulted do not provide an equivalent feature-by-feature comparison with PlayStation’s advertised features. That makes the evidence asymmetric: PlayStation’s page describes particular PS5 features, while the available Xbox listing confirms platform availability. The difference in the amount of detail on those pages does not establish that Xbox lacks features, nor does it prove that PS5 has a performance advantage.

If you already prefer one platform ecosystem or own a compatible console, that can be a practical reason to choose it. If you are considering buying a new system based on technical performance alone, the currently consulted sources do not establish which platform will deliver a higher frame rate, resolution, or overall performance.
PS5 Pro is named on the PlayStation listing, but the information reviewed does not provide a GTA VI performance comparison between PS5 and PS5 Pro. Do not infer specific resolution, frame-rate, or visual differences from the product name alone. Likewise, no comparable platform-by-platform figures are established here for Xbox Series X and Series S. Those details would be necessary for a data-driven technical ranking.
What editions and formats are announced?
Take-Two’s 2026 announcement lists a Standard Edition at $79.99 and an Ultimate Edition at $99.99. The Ultimate Edition is therefore $20 more than the Standard Edition at the announced dollar prices. Those are the stated prices in dollars; the announcement does not establish what a buyer will pay in every country, including local taxes, currency conversion, or retailer pricing. The release describes GTA VI as a single-player experience and gives the November 19, 2026 launch date for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The announcement names both editions and their prices, but those facts alone do not tell you which edition offers better value for your preferences. Check the specific retailer’s listing for the contents of each edition in your region before paying more. Do not assume that local prices will match the dollar figures or that every retailer will list identical terms.

Rockstar says the physical version is a box containing a download code, not a game disc. A box labeled physical therefore does not mean you receive a disc to install or play from. Check that you have a way to redeem and download the code before purchase, and read the exact retailer description rather than relying on a generic “physical” label.
Also check region compatibility. Rockstar recommends purchasing from a retailer in the country where the platform account is registered to avoid activation problems. A code intended for another region may not work with your account. Confirm the platform, edition, included format, region terms, and final price on the retailer listing before checkout—particularly if buying a boxed code as a gift or from a seller outside your country.
Neither the announced editions nor the physical-code format establishes a PC edition. The edition names and prices announced apply to the stated console launch information; no matching PC price or PC format has been announced in the sources consulted. Do not buy PC parts or choose a console on the assumption that a specific edition, price, or content will later be offered on PC.
A simple decision process
- Decide whether launch timing matters. If you want to play on November 19, 2026, select from the announced console platforms. If you can wait and want to play on PC, wait for official confirmation rather than planning around a predicted date. A forecast is not a substitute for a platform listing or a release date.
- Check what compatible hardware you already own. If you have a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, consider using that system before budgeting for another one. The PlayStation listing also specifies PS5 Pro. If your only system is PS4, do not assume compatibility; it is not listed on the PlayStation page reviewed.
- Compare the complete local cost if you need a system. Include the console and the edition you intend to buy, and verify regional pricing with local listings. The $79.99 and $99.99 figures are the announced prices in dollars, not a complete cost estimate for every market. Compare the same edition and account for the actual local price rather than treating a dollar figure as a universal checkout price.
- Choose the platform whose ecosystem and features suit you. PlayStation has described specific PS5 audio, loading, and DualSense features; the consulted official sources do not establish a matched technical comparison with Xbox or PC. Xbox’s listing confirms Series X|S availability. Neither detail alone proves a technical winner.
- Verify the edition and format before checkout. Take-Two announced Standard and Ultimate editions at $79.99 and $99.99 respectively. A boxed physical copy is a download-code box with no disc. Check the retailer’s description, platform, region compatibility, and final price before purchasing.
- Keep an eye out for an actual PC announcement if waiting. If PC is essential and you can delay playing, do not set a purchase date around a prediction. Revisit official platform listings for a platform announcement and release date before making a PC-specific plan.
What the available evidence cannot tell you
- Whether or when Rockstar will announce a PC version.
- PC system requirements, PC pricing, or performance settings.
- Comparable GTA VI frame rates or resolutions for PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
- Current console prices in a particular country or the final local cost of each setup.
- Whether every retailer or region will offer the same editions, package terms, or pricing.
- Technical differences in GTA VI performance between PS5 and PS5 Pro, or between Xbox Series X and Series S.
- What is included in every regional version of each edition; confirm the precise local retailer listing.
For now, the evidence supports a clear timing-based choice: console for a confirmed launch-day path, or wait if PC is essential and you can accept uncertainty about availability. If you already own a listed console, start there; if you do not, compare the full local system-and-game cost. In either case, verify the edition, format, and region terms before buying.

When does GTA 6 launch on console?
The official listings and Take-Two announcement identify November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Which consoles will GTA 6 be on?
The listings reviewed name PS5, PS5 Pro on PlayStation’s page, and Xbox Series X|S. PlayStation’s page does not list PS4.
Should I wait for GTA 6 on PC or buy a console?
If playing on launch day is important, a listed console is the confirmed route. If PC is essential and you can wait, waiting avoids buying a console for a game whose PC release has not been announced. No PC date can be relied on yet.
Does PS5 have better GTA 6 performance than Xbox?
PlayStation promotes PS5 audio, loading, and DualSense features, but those descriptions are not independent benchmarks. The official sources consulted do not provide comparable frame rates, resolutions, or a technical performance ranking for PS5 and Xbox.
How much do the announced editions cost?
Take-Two announced a Standard Edition for $79.99 and an Ultimate Edition for $99.99. Local prices, taxes, currency conversion, and retailer pricing can differ, so check the listing in your country.
Does the physical GTA 6 edition come on a disc?
Rockstar says the physical version is a box containing a download code, not a disc. Check the retailer’s exact listing and make sure the code region is compatible with your platform account. Rockstar recommends buying from a retailer in the country where the account is registered.
Are GTA 6 PC requirements available?
No PC requirements are established in the official listings consulted because no PC version has been announced there. Avoid buying PC hardware based on assumed requirements or a predicted release.

The Bottom Line
Choose a PS5, PS5 Pro, or Xbox Series X|S if you want the confirmed November 19, 2026 launch. If you only want to play on PC and can wait, wait for an official platform announcement rather than guessing at a date or buying components for an unannounced version. Compare local console and game prices, then verify the edition, download-code format, and region terms before checkout.
