The available report identifies the regions but does not provide measured boundaries or a complete map. It is more accurate to call these geographic areas than “systems”: the headline wording appears to conflate regions with gameplay mechanics.
How large is GTA 6’s map?
TechRadar reports that Rockstar North co-studio head Aaron Garbut described the map as the biggest Rockstar has created “by some degree.” The same report characterizes the world as about twice the size of GTA V’s. Those are attributed comparisons, not independently measured area figures; no surface-area measurement or comparison method is provided.

What has Rockstar said about world detail and weather?
Buildings and environmental detail
Garbut told TechRadar that Rockstar focused on rooftops, alleys, building interiors, and the spaces between them, aiming for a cohesive world with dense content and a hand-crafted feel. The comment describes the development intent; it does not establish how many buildings can be entered or what every interior contains.
Localized, persistent weather
Owen Shepherd, Rockstar’s vice president of art for lighting and rendering, said the weather system had been re-engineered to make conditions “much more localized and persistent.” TechRadar’s report describes shifting cloud formations, rain, lightning storms, lingering puddles, rainbows, and changing light. These are pre-release descriptions, so they should not be read as independently confirmed behavior in a released game.

How many animal species are reported?
TechRadar reports Rockstar’s 2026 disclosure of 170 animal species, including more than 60 bird types and more than 30 land mammals, as well as fish and reptiles. The report does not provide a complete species list or counting method, so these remain attributed pre-release figures rather than independently verified totals.

PlayStation describes PS5 features including DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, controller-speaker effects, Tempest 3D AudioTech, and SSD-enabled loading.
