Is GTA 6 coming to PC?
A PC version has not been officially announced. A future PC release is widely expected because Rockstar has brought previous major releases to PC, often after their console launches, but that pattern is not a confirmation.
Do not treat “GTA 6 PC launches in 2027” or any other date as fact unless Rockstar or Take-Two announces it. The same applies to claims that the game will launch on Steam, the Epic Games Store, or Rockstar Games Launcher. Rockstar’s current pre-order information confirms console purchasing options, not a PC storefront.
When does GTA 6 launch?
The confirmed launch date is November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar’s official GTA VI site and Take-Two’s pre-order announcement confirm that date.
This is not a PC release date. Rockstar has not announced whether a PC version will arrive later, launch simultaneously, or be released at all.
What PC hardware should you plan for?
The following targets are a practical preparation guide for a possible future PC port. They are estimates, not official GTA VI requirements.
| Use case | Sensible preparation target |
|---|---|
| Entry-level future gaming PC | Modern six-core CPU, 16GB–32GB RAM, current GPU with 8GB VRAM, SSD |
| Safer mainstream target | Modern six- or eight-core CPU, 32GB RAM, GPU with 8GB–12GB VRAM, NVMe SSD |
| 1440p or longer-term target | High-performance six- or eight-core CPU, 12GB–16GB-plus GPU, 32GB RAM, fast NVMe SSD |
| 4K or heavy ray tracing | High-end GPU and CPU, substantial VRAM, 32GB RAM, fast NVMe SSD; likely use of upscaling |
CPU: prioritize modern performance, not just core count
A large open-world game can put substantial pressure on the processor through simulation, NPC behavior, asset streaming, draw calls, and background tasks. A modern six-core CPU is a sensible floor for a new gaming build, while an eight-core chip provides more headroom.
That does not make six cores an official GTA VI minimum. Architecture, cache, per-core performance, motherboard compatibility, and the final PC port will matter more than a simple core-count comparison. Older four-core processors that already produce poor minimum frame rates in current open-world games are the systems most likely to benefit from a CPU or platform upgrade.
GPU: the main factor for resolution and visual quality
The graphics card will largely determine whether you target 1080p, 1440p, or 4K, as well as how much you can raise shadows, reflections, geometry, textures, and ray-traced effects.
A modern mid-range GPU is a more sensible preparation target than an older flagship with limited VRAM or declining driver support. However, buying an expensive card solely for an unannounced PC port is difficult to justify. Match the GPU to your monitor and current games rather than to an invented GTA VI requirements table.
VRAM: 8GB is a reasonable baseline, not a guarantee
Prefer a modern graphics card with 8GB or more of VRAM; 12GB or more offers additional headroom for higher-resolution textures and large streamed environments. VRAM capacity alone does not determine performance. Shader throughput, memory bandwidth, architecture, CPU support, and drivers are also important.

RAM: 32GB is the safer new-build target
Rockstar has not said that GTA VI requires 32GB of system memory. For a new gaming PC in this performance class, however, 32GB is the more prudent target. It leaves room for the game, Windows, launchers, browsers, recording software, and other background applications.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →An existing 16GB system may remain usable. Whether it does will depend on the final port, background software, texture settings, and how aggressively the game streams assets. Increasing RAM will not compensate for an inadequate GPU or CPU.
Storage: use an SSD, preferably NVMe
No official SSD requirement or installation size has been published. An NVMe SSD is nevertheless the sensible choice for a modern open-world PC game because fast storage can improve loading, asset streaming, responsiveness, and patch management.
Keep substantial free space available—roughly 100GB to 150GB is practical headroom for a large modern game, updates, shader caches, and temporary files. This is not an alleged GTA VI installation size. Do not trust a claimed file-size figure until Rockstar publishes one.
Operating system and ray tracing
Rockstar has not announced a supported Windows version, DirectX or graphics API requirement, or ray-tracing requirement. A supported 64-bit version of Windows 10 or Windows 11 would be a reasonable planning assumption, but it must be verified when official specifications appear.

Do not assume ray tracing will be mandatory. It is more useful to treat ray tracing as a possible premium performance tier that may require a stronger GPU, rather than as a confirmed baseline.
What can the PS5 and Xbox versions tell us?
Only a broad amount. GTA VI is being developed for current-generation consoles, so a future PC port will likely need to reproduce an experience designed around PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S-class hardware. That suggests a much higher baseline than the original console targets of GTA V.
It does not allow anyone to convert console specifications directly into PC requirements. Consoles use unified memory, fixed hardware configurations, specialized APIs, and extensive optimization for one target. PCs divide memory between system RAM and VRAM and expose a wide range of CPUs, GPUs, drivers, storage devices, resolutions, and settings.
A PC version may also offer higher frame rates, ultrawide support, more detailed shadows, higher resolutions, additional graphics options, or enhanced ray tracing. Those features can make the recommended PC tier substantially different from the hardware needed to reproduce a console mode.
Should you upgrade your PC now?
Upgrade now if your system has obvious general weaknesses
- Your main game drive is a hard disk rather than an SSD.
- You have only 8GB of system RAM.
- Your graphics card has 4GB or less VRAM and already struggles with modern games.
- An older four-core CPU is causing stutter or poor minimum frame rates.
- Your power supply cannot safely support a modern GPU upgrade.
- Your system throttles because of inadequate cooling or poor case airflow.
- Your SSD has little free capacity for a large game library and updates.
These upgrades improve the PC generally; they do not guarantee GTA VI compatibility.

Wait if your system is already modern
If you have a recent six- or eight-core CPU, 32GB RAM, a modern 8GB–16GB graphics card, a fast NVMe SSD, adequate cooling, and a suitable power supply, a major purchase is premature. Wait for official requirements and independent PC benchmarks before replacing an expensive GPU or platform.
When a full replacement makes more sense
Consider replacing the whole PC when the motherboard is obsolete, the power supply is poor or proprietary, the case cannot accommodate modern hardware, cooling is inadequate, or the upgrade would require replacing nearly every major component. A targeted GPU or RAM upgrade is usually more efficient when the existing platform is sound.

- 1080p at 60fps: A modern mainstream PC is the most realistic planning category, although no GTA VI PC frame-rate target has been announced.
- 1440p at 60fps: Expect to need a stronger GPU and preferably more than entry-level VRAM. Upscaling may be useful.
- 4K at 60fps: Plan for high-end hardware and potentially upscaling. Do not assume native 4K performance.
- High-refresh-rate gaming: No official PC performance target exists, so do not buy specifically for a promised frame rate.
- Ray-traced settings: Treat them as a premium tier until Rockstar explains how ray tracing works on PC.
Rumors and claims to ignore
Be skeptical of any table that presents a specific GPU, RAM amount, storage size, or release date without an official source. Common unsupported claims include “GTA 6 requires an RTX 4070,” “the minimum GPU is an RTX 3060,” “32GB RAM is mandatory,” “the game needs 150GB,” and “the PC version launches in 2027.” None should be presented as fact without a dated Rockstar or Take-Two specification.
Retailer listings and creator graphics may be placeholders. A credible official requirements announcement should identify Rockstar Games or Take-Two, provide a dated system-requirements table, separate minimum and recommended specifications, and explain the operating system, storage, graphics API, and performance targets.
Trailer footage is not a benchmark. It may be captured on console hardware, use a controlled scene, or represent a target presentation rather than a measurable PC configuration.
Why GTA V performance is not a reliable test
A PC that runs GTA V well is not automatically ready for GTA VI. GTA V was designed around much older console hardware and has had years of PC optimization. Its performance on a particular graphics card says little about how a new current-generation open-world game will handle crowds, streaming, geometry, lighting, simulation, and modern visual settings.
What to check before buying hardware
- Define the monitor target: Decide whether you want 1080p, 1440p, or 4K before choosing a GPU.
- Check the CPU: Confirm its age, gaming performance, socket, motherboard support, and whether it already causes low minimum frame rates.
- Check VRAM and GPU performance: Capacity matters, but do not ignore architecture, raster performance, ray tracing, and memory bandwidth.
- Check memory configuration: For a new system, use a compatible matched 32GB kit rather than mixing uncertain modules.
- Check the SSD: Leave room for the game, patches, shader caches, and other titles.
- Check the power supply: Verify wattage, connectors, quality, and headroom before installing a new GPU.
- Check cooling and physical fit: Confirm case clearance, airflow, CPU cooling, and expected temperatures.
- Wait for official requirements: Reassess any major purchase once Rockstar publishes a PC version and performance targets.
Where to monitor for the real requirements
There is no announced date for a PC requirements reveal. Check Rockstar’s official GTA VI site, Rockstar Support, official Rockstar storefront or launcher information, and Take-Two’s investor and newsroom announcements. A future official PC storefront listing may also provide the requirements, but Steam or Epic availability is currently unconfirmed.

Bottom line
Do not buy a graphics card or complete PC based on a fake GTA 6 requirements chart. As of August 16, 2026, Rockstar has announced only the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions, launching November 19, 2026, and has not confirmed a PC version, PC date, or PC specifications.
For general preparation, target a modern six- or eight-core CPU, 32GB RAM, a current GPU with at least 8GB of VRAM, and a fast NVMe SSD. Upgrade weak or outdated hardware that already limits modern games, but wait for official requirements and real PC benchmarks before making an expensive GTA VI-specific purchase.
