The game is currently confirmed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a console launch scheduled for November 19, 2026. Any GTA 6 PC specification circulating now is an estimate. The most defensible planning target is a modern six-core CPU, 16GB of RAM, a DirectX 12 graphics card with at least 6GB of VRAM and SSD storage; 32GB RAM, an eight-core-class CPU and an RTX 3060 Ti/RTX 4060- or RX 6700 XT-class GPU provide more headroom, but none of those parts is guaranteed to run the finished PC version.
What Rockstar has confirmed about GTA 6 on PC
Rockstar’s support page, updated August 18, 2026, lists pre-orders for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. It does not list Windows, a PC release window or PC hardware requirements.

Take-Two Interactive’s official launch announcement sets the console release for November 19, 2026, at $79.99 for the standard edition. Digital pre-loading begins November 12, 2026. The physical console edition contains a download code rather than a game disc; that packaging detail says nothing about PC support.

Predicted GTA 6 PC requirements
The following tiers are planning estimates assembled from the confirmed console generation and Rockstar’s current PC baseline. They are not leaked specifications or official minimum and recommended requirements.

“Minimum” and “recommended” labels cannot be assigned yet. Rockstar could require more memory, a newer graphics architecture or a faster processor once it defines its Windows renderer, target resolutions and frame-rate modes.
Why these parts are the sensible estimate
CPU: six cores is a floor for planning, not a guarantee
Open-world simulation, streaming, artificial intelligence and background systems can spread work across multiple CPU threads. A recent six-core chip is therefore a reasonable lower planning point, while an eight-core-class processor gives a PC more room for dense scenes and background applications. Age, per-core performance and platform support matter as much as the core count; an old six-core processor should not be treated as equivalent to a current one.

RAM: 16GB may work, 32GB is the safer purchase
The estimate places 16GB at the lower tier and 32GB at the comfortable target. System memory is separate from graphics-card VRAM, so a card with 8GB of VRAM does not compensate for a PC that is short on RAM. If you are buying a new system for several years of games, 32GB reduces the risk of running into memory pressure as texture quality and background software increase.
GPU and VRAM: DirectX 12 and capacity are the key unknowns
The lower estimate calls for a DirectX 12 card with at least 6GB of VRAM. The stronger tier uses the performance class of an RTX 3060 Ti, RTX 4060 or RX 6700 XT as a planning reference. These examples are not guarantees: final optimization, texture settings, ray tracing and the chosen resolution could move the requirement substantially. An 8GB-or-more card is a sensible general gaming upgrade, but it remains an informed purchase rather than a confirmed GTA 6 specification.
Storage: plan for an SSD, preferably NVMe
An SSD is part of both estimates because a large streaming-heavy open world benefits from faster asset access than a mechanical hard drive can provide. A 1TB NVMe SSD is the clearest practical target for a new build or upgrade, leaving room for the operating system, updates and other games. The final installation size has not been announced, so do not treat 1TB as a stated GTA 6 capacity requirement.

Can your current PC run GTA 6?
There is no reliable yes-or-no test until Rockstar publishes a Windows specification sheet. You can still classify your system against the planning range:
- CPU: identify the exact model and compare it with a recent six-core or eight-core desktop/mobile chip, not just its advertised clock speed.
- Memory: 16GB matches the lower estimate; 32GB is the more comfortable target.
- GPU: check the exact graphics card, DirectX 12 support and dedicated VRAM. Integrated graphics and cards below 6GB VRAM are outside the estimate.
- Drive: install games on an SSD. A hard drive is not a sensible target for this type of streaming-heavy game.
- Power and cooling: verify that a planned graphics-card upgrade fits the case, power supply and thermal limits.
Meeting these points means your PC is positioned sensibly for modern games; it does not establish that it will meet GTA 6’s eventual minimum or recommended setting.

Wait if GTA 6 is the only reason for the purchase. Buying specifically for an unannounced port creates the greatest risk of choosing the wrong GPU feature set, memory capacity or CPU platform. Rockstar’s Windows announcement should provide the information needed to match hardware to a stated resolution and frame-rate target.

If you are upgrading for current games as well, prioritize a balanced system rather than one expensive component:
- Move the operating system and games to an SSD; a 1TB NVMe drive is a practical capacity target.
- Choose a modern six- or eight-core CPU with a current motherboard platform.
- Use at least 16GB of RAM, with 32GB preferable for a new system.
- Select a DirectX 12 graphics card with 8GB or more VRAM when the budget allows, while treating GTA 6 compatibility as unconfirmed.
- Leave budget for a quality power supply and adequate cooling instead of overspending on the GPU alone.
Why GTA V’s PC requirements do not predict GTA 6 directly
Rockstar’s GTA V PC page lists a GTX 660 2GB or Radeon HD 7870 2GB and 125GB of storage, and warns that requirements can change over time. Those figures are a historical baseline for an older game, not a GTA 6 minimum. The jump to current-generation consoles, higher-fidelity assets and newer rendering features makes a direct comparison misleading.

What could change the estimate
- Ray tracing: optional or required ray-traced effects would alter the sensible GPU class and may increase VRAM pressure.
- PC optimization: a well-optimized port could run below the planning target, while a demanding launch build could require more powerful hardware.
- Resolution and frame rate: 1080p, 1440p and 4K targets, as well as 30fps or 60fps modes, have different hardware needs.
- Release timing: Rockstar has not announced a Windows date, so no anonymous report can establish when a PC version will arrive.
Take-Two describes its business as having more than 470 million units sold-in worldwide, but that company-wide figure does not confirm a PC edition. Until Rockstar lists Windows and publishes specifications, the two tiers above are useful budgeting guides only.
