Fanatical was reported to have the U.S. Steam key for SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS for $13.49 on October 5, 2026, $1.50 below Steam’s $14.99 Standard Edition sale price. But that Fanatical deal is not confirmed live: its listing showed an already-expired September 27 end date when checked on October 7. Check both stores and the final checkout total before buying.
How the reported prices compare
The comparison is for the Standard Edition in the U.S., not a general claim that Fanatical is always cheaper. Yahoo Tech’s October 5 deal report quoted Fanatical at $13.49 for a Steam key. Steam’s U.S. store page showed $14.99, reduced 70% from $49.99, with its offer ending October 8, 2026. The difference is $1.50 before taxes or other checkout adjustments.

Prices and checkout totals can change. The dated Fanatical figures are a report of the October 5 offer, not proof that it remains available today. Yahoo Tech’s October 5 deal report is the source for those figures; Steam’s listing shows the Steam-side prices and stated end date.
What to check before you buy
- Compare the same edition. The $13.49 figure was for Fanatical’s Standard Steam key. Steam’s Standard Edition is the like-for-like comparison; Steam’s Digital Deluxe Edition costs more and includes additional digital content. Fanatical lists its Digital Deluxe product separately and describes it as adding the Digital Deluxe Season Pass. Check the current product pages for exact contents.
- Confirm the key activates where you live. Fanatical’s listing identifies activation-region information. Make sure the key is valid in your country and that the displayed currency and price match your region before paying.
- Check the live offer and final total. Verify the current price, sale end date or stock status, and any tax or checkout adjustments on the retailer’s checkout page. The Fanatical listing’s displayed end date conflicted with the later October 5 price report, so do not assume the reported deal is still live.
- Know which store you are buying from. A Fanatical purchase is a third-party key intended for Steam activation, not a direct Steam purchase. The purchase and refund process is through the retailer you buy from.
