Which platforms will GTA 6 be on?
PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S
The announced launch platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. PlayStation’s product page also lists PS5 Pro and says the game will not run on PS4. The PlayStation FAQ describes GTA VI as a single-player experience.
PC
Rockstar and Take-Two have not announced a PC version or release date in the official material reviewed as of October 8, 2026. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has said the company’s general strategy is to launch on platforms with a meaningful audience, while noting that this is not always the case. That company-wide comment, reported by GamesRadar+ on September 17, 2026, is not confirmation of GTA VI for PC.

Where is GTA 6 set, and what is the story?
Rockstar places the story in Vice City and the wider fictional state of Leonida. Jason and Lucia are drawn into a criminal conspiracy after an easy score goes wrong, and the official premise says they must rely on each other to survive.
A TechRadar report on October 1, 2026, covering a Game Informer feature, names six main regions: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park. This is a reported breakdown of the game’s world, rather than a separate Rockstar announcement.

- Please note that although this game is Region Free or Region Unlocked and will work on all systems, this is the European version and may differ from the local version in age rating, labeling or instructions.
What game details have been reported?
Recent coverage of the Game Informer feature describes systems and world details attributed to Rockstar. These are reported descriptions, not independent hands-on findings.
Weather and wildlife
TechRadar reports a more localized, persistent weather system, with rain, lightning storms, puddles that linger, rainbows, and changing light. It quotes Rockstar vice president of art for lighting and rendering Owen Shepherd: “We have re-engineered our weather system to make everything much more localized and persistent, and really wanted the world to feel dynamically solid and achieve a sense of scale we haven’t felt before.”
Rank #3
The same feature coverage reports 170 animal species, including more than 60 bird types and more than 30 land mammals, as well as fish and reptiles. Rockstar vice president of dynamic art Michael Kane is quoted describing an effort to reflect Florida’s varied animal ecosystems across urban, rural, aquatic, and wetland environments. Those counts come from the reported feature, not an independent statistical study.
Characters, police, and pursuits
A second TechRadar report on October 1, 2026, says the Game Informer feature gives a count of more than 600,000 NPC animations and describes variation in characters’ body types, features, tattoos, clothing, and accessories.

The report also describes a six-star Wanted system and a “Heat” system. Police may collect identifying details about Jason or Lucia, including clothing, hairstyle, and vehicle; changing appearance or leaving a vehicle behind are described as ways to evade pursuit. The feature coverage says players can control either protagonist during heists and robberies.
