GTA VI: Jason and Lucia under pressure
GTA VI’s announced central pair is Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Rockstar describes Jason as an ex-Army man working for local drug runners in the Keys, and Lucia as recently released from Leonida Penitentiary and intent on improving her circumstances. The official premise says an easy score goes wrong and draws the pair into a criminal conspiracy across Leonida. This establishes a paired story premise, but not how often players control each character, whether they can switch freely, or whether the game supports co-op. Rockstar’s character and setting pages provide the announced details.
A return to Vice City, within Leonida
GTA V uses Los Santos and Blaine County, Rockstar’s reimagining of Southern California. GTA VI shifts to the fictional state of Leonida, which includes modern Vice City and areas beyond it. That confirms a different setting and a return to Vice City; it does not establish that GTA VI’s map is larger than GTA V’s, or specify its total area, density, number of interiors, or complete list of explorable regions.

What is confirmed about platforms and release
Rockstar’s current listing gives November 19, 2026 as GTA VI’s release date and names PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as platforms. The official platform information consulted here does not confirm a PC version or date, so GTA V’s history on PC is not a basis for stating that GTA VI will launch there. Rockstar’s release announcement superseded its earlier May 26, 2026 target.
Rockstar’s August 2026 extended look was captured entirely from in-game footage on PS5. That describes the source of the footage, not final performance: it does not guarantee a frame rate, resolution, loading time, or equivalent results on every platform. Rockstar’s extended-look announcement gives that context.

GTA Online is established; GTA VI online details are not
GTA V is sold with GTA Online, which Rockstar describes as an evolving online universe for up to 30 players. Rockstar has also added GTA V protagonist Franklin to GTA Online story content, including The Contract. These are facts about GTA V’s online service, not evidence about what GTA VI will include. The official material cited here does not confirm a GTA VI online mode, its timing, its name, or any connection to GTA Online.
Know what the physical edition contains
Rockstar Support lists Standard and Ultimate editions. The Standard Edition includes the game; the Ultimate Edition adds in-game vehicles, weapons, styles, properties, and related content. Rockstar says the physical package is a box containing a download code, not a game disc. Its support information also describes pre-loading from November 12, 2026, and region restrictions for some codes. Check the current edition details and make sure a code is intended for your platform-account region before buying. What remains unknown about the gameplay
The announced story and setting support a clear comparison; detailed mechanics do not yet have the same evidential footing. Rockstar’s promotional footage is not, by itself, confirmation that every visible activity is a general player feature. The official material cited here does not settle comparisons involving:
- Wanted levels or police behavior
- Weapon inventory and character-switching systems
- Businesses, side activities, or persistent world simulation
- Map dimensions, density, or numbers of interiors
- Performance across platforms
Those points need specific confirmation before they can be treated as differences from GTA V. Likewise, Rockstar’s announced GTA VI: The Album has 34 original tracks; that is an album track count, not a confirmed count of in-game radio stations or all music in GTA VI.
