If a Ghosts Exposed ghost is missing, first check that the seasonal event is active, then verify the current event year’s time, location, and collection requirements. A ghost not appearing at an old map marker does not by itself confirm a bug: Ghosts Exposed is seasonal, and the available sources do not verify an October 2026 schedule or locations.
1. Check whether Ghosts Exposed is active
Ghosts Exposed is a seasonal GTA Online activity, not a permanent spawn. Historical coverage confirms returns in 2023, 2024, and 2025, but that does not establish that the event is live now. Check Rockstar’s current announcements or in-game event notices before searching for ghosts; prior-year dates and maps cannot confirm current availability. Rockstar Newswire and GTA Online are official places to check for current updates. Rockstar’s 2023 announcement describes that year’s event, not a recurring schedule: Paranormal and Supernatural Reports Rise as Halloween Arrives.

2. Match the active year’s time and location
Use a guide for the event year that is actually running. The 2025 guide documented specific locations and one-hour in-game time windows, so reaching the correct place at the wrong in-game time could make a ghost seem absent. The guide is useful for understanding that schedule-based behavior, but its locations and times should not be treated as a 2026 guide. See PC Gamer’s 2025 Halloween event calendar and UFO locations.
3. Check whether a previous ghost is required
In the 2025 event, the final ghost at Vinewood Bowl appeared only after players photographed the preceding nine. If a late-stage ghost is missing, check the collected count in the Interaction Menu and confirm that earlier photos registered. This prerequisite is documented for the 2025 version; do not assume it establishes the requirements for a later event. PC Gamer’s 2025 guide lists the year-specific sequence.

4. Photograph and submit the ghost in-game
When you reach a listed ghost’s location during its scheduled window, use the in-game phone camera, frame the ghost, and submit the photo. The documented mechanic is not a request to use a real-world camera. If the ghost is visible but the game does not register the capture, make sure it is in the phone camera’s frame and complete the photo submission rather than merely viewing it. 5. Contact Rockstar if the conditions check out
If the event is confirmed active, you are using the correct current-year time and location, the progression requirement is satisfied, and the in-game photo method still fails, report the issue through Rockstar Games Customer Support. Include your platform, date, in-game time, ghost location, and recorded collection count so support can understand what you reproduced. The support hub provides general support and request routes; it does not publish a Ghosts Exposed-specific missing-spawn recovery procedure.

What Rockstar’s 2025 update did—and did not—fix
Rockstar’s GTAV Title Update 1.70 notes, last updated January 23, 2025, mention a fix for an issue that removed the Ghosts Exposed Albany Brigham livery from players’ unlocks. That is a reward-unlock issue, not documentation of a fix for ghosts failing to spawn.
