Rockstar lists the 2026 event for October 1 through November 4, with new locations and rewards. The current update notes do not specify the exact menu, map marker, or other prompt that launches it, so use the live event or challenge display in game rather than relying on an old guide.
How to start Ghosts Exposed
- Enter GTA Online during the Halloween event. Rockstar’s Title Update 1.73 notes list Ghosts Exposed from October 1 through November 4, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC Enhanced/Legacy. See Rockstar’s Title Update 1.73 Notes for the event listing.
- Check the current in-game event or challenge display for the live Ghosts Exposed prompt and this year’s details.
- Search Southern San Andreas for apparitions, then use the in-game iFruit camera to photograph them.
- Submit each photo to the Ghosts Exposed investigators through the activity’s in-game flow.
- Return to the current event or challenge display to check your progress, remaining locations, and completion reward.
Rockstar’s current update note does not name a phone menu, call, map marker, or eligibility prerequisite that starts the 2026 hunt. If you do not see a prompt, check the event display and confirm the seasonal event is active; do not assume a specific old start procedure still applies.

How to photograph the ghosts
Use the iFruit camera while an apparition is visible, and take the picture from a little distance. Rockstar warned in its 2023 announcement that spirits can disappear if you get too close. The original instructions describe sending photographic proof to the team for GTA$ and RP; check the current in-game display for this year’s payment and requirements.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

The hunt takes place in Southern San Andreas, but Rockstar says the 2026 event has new locations and does not publish them in the update note. That means a map or location list from an earlier year is not confirmed for this run. Follow the current in-game event or challenge display for live location information rather than treating a historic route as current.

What do you get for photographing all the ghosts?
Rockstar’s October 12, 2023 announcement said photographing all 10 ghosts earned the Albany Brigham’s Ghosts Exposed livery, in addition to GTA$ and RP for submitted photos. Those are details of the 2023 event, not a confirmed 2026 reward or count. The 2026 update confirms new rewards but does not itemize them, so check the current challenge display before setting a completion target.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do not confuse it with the Vinewood Undead Collection
Ghosts Exposed is a photo hunt. The Vinewood Undead Collection is a separate set of weekly challenges; Rockstar’s 2025 support article describes tasks involving Survival, Taxi Fare, and Adversary Mode. Completing those challenges is not the same as photographing Ghosts Exposed apparitions. See Rockstar’s Vinewood Undead Collection guide for that separate activity.
