Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition received Title Update 1.112 in November 2024, adding Classic Lighting mode. Rockstar says the setting restores the look and feel of the original games’ skies. Its update notes do not call the feature mobile-exclusive or say it is exclusive to any platform.
What did GTA Trilogy update 1.112 add?
Rockstar Games’ Title Update 1.112 notes name one visual feature: “Added Classic Lighting mode which restores the look and feel of the sky in the original games”. The collection includes Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, and San Andreas.
The notes also say the update includes “numerous fixes and improvements,” but do not itemize those changes. Specific claims about other visual or environmental adjustments should therefore be treated as secondary reporting, not as a complete official changelog.
Which platforms received the update, and when?
Rockstar’s page separates the rollout information into two dated entries. The November 12, 2024 entry covers PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A November 13, 2024 entry is headed for all listed platforms and all three titles; its platform list includes PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

That distinction matters: the page does not give a single date for every platform. It was last updated on November 25, 2024, but that is the page’s update date, not the stated release date for the patch.
Is Classic Lighting the same as the mobile visual feature?
Rockstar’s description supports a narrower claim: Classic Lighting changes the sky’s look and feel to evoke the original games. Its notes do not describe the feature as a mobile port, identify a mobile-exclusive mode, or say that the setting reproduces every aspect of the mobile versions. Calling the console-and-PC addition “visual features that were exclusive to mobile” goes beyond what Rockstar’s update notes establish.

The collection was initially presented as an updated version of the three games, with lighting and environmental upgrades among its changes. PlayStation’s 2021 announcement described a rebuilt lighting system alongside improved shadows, weather and reflections, upgraded character and vehicle models, higher-resolution textures, increased draw distances, and GTA V-style controls. That launch description provides context for the revised presentation; it does not mean every later patch altered all of those features.
What does Classic Lighting change in practice?
The documented point of comparison is the sky’s resemblance to the original games. The update notes do not promise that Classic Lighting is better in every scene, nor do they specify that it changes other graphical settings. Players can judge which presentation they prefer by comparing the available modes in their own game and on their platform; the cited notes do not provide a controlled visual comparison.

Look for the Classic Lighting line to confirm Rockstar’s stated feature, and distinguish it from the general “numerous fixes and improvements” wording, which is not broken down in the notes.
What is the Definitive Edition?
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition brings together Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, and San Andreas. Rockstar’s store lists November 11, 2021 as the collection’s release date. Its store page is region-sensitive and can show changing availability, so its current listing should be checked directly for platform and edition details.
