GTA V Enhanced brings higher PC system requirements and updated features, while Rockstar’s detailed Fidelity, Performance and Performance RT descriptions apply to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions. Rockstar also integrated BattlEye anti-cheat into PC GTA Online in September 2024. These are related updates to the game, but they arrived at different times and vary by platform.
What GTA V Enhanced changes on PC
Rockstar lists separate system requirements for GTAV Enhanced and GTAV Legacy. Enhanced requires substantially newer hardware and an SSD, so older guidance for the original PC release may not describe what is needed to run Enhanced. Rockstar’s requirements page was updated December 10, 2025; it gives hardware requirements, not guaranteed frame rates for a particular computer. Rockstar’s PC system requirements also warn that downloadable content and programming changes can affect requirements over time.

These are Rockstar’s published specifications, not results from a performance test. Meeting the recommended specification does not establish a particular resolution or frame rate.

The cited requirements page lists lower Legacy hardware requirements, but the figures above should not be treated as Enhanced specifications. Rockstar also requires a Rockstar Games account and internet access for installation and online play. For an Enhanced PC installation, check that the drive has enough free capacity and meets the listed storage requirement; Rockstar does not specify a particular SSD model or interface.

Which visual upgrades and graphics modes are documented?
Rockstar’s March 4, 2022 graphics-mode announcement concerns GTAV and GTA Online on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S—not PC. Its modes have different resolutions and targets by console, so no single resolution or frame rate applies to every mode or platform. Rockstar’s announcement describes the following:

The console announcement also lists faster loading, more population and traffic variety, denser vegetation, improved lighting and reflections, anti-aliasing, motion blur, and more detailed explosions and fire. On PS5 it describes DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, as well as Tempest 3D audio; on Xbox Series X|S it describes spatial sound. These are announced features, not a promise that every mode or platform delivers identical image quality.

What BattlEye does in PC GTA Online
Rockstar integrated BattlEye anti-cheat into PC GTA Online in the September 17, 2024 entry of Title Update 1.69. Rockstar describes BattlEye as kernel anti-cheat software intended to detect and prohibit cheating software accessing GTA Online servers, attempts to manipulate protected code, and actions that sabotage other players’ experience. It must be active for GTA Online sessions, but Rockstar says it only needs to run during online play. The FAQ also says official Rockstar Community RP servers will not require BattlEye. Rockstar’s BattlEye FAQ does not establish a measured reduction in cheating or a detection rate, so BattlEye should not be described as eliminating cheating.
Turning BattlEye off for Story Mode
Rockstar’s update added a Launcher option to disable BattlEye for Story Mode. It also documents the -nobattleye launch argument for Story Mode and certain third-party launchers. This is not a way to access official GTA Online without anti-cheat: Rockstar states that “Launching GTA Online without BattlEye will not allow the game to connect to official GTA Online servers.” Rockstar’s troubleshooting page, updated February 24, 2026, recommends checking that BattlEye is enabled in Launcher settings when troubleshooting an online connection.

What the published updates do—and do not—show about performance
Rockstar’s later Title Update 1.70 notes document fixes for Enhanced, including ray-tracing performance across Cayo Perico, stretched tree textures, and a Story Mode progression halt at extremely high frame rates. Those entries confirm specific fixes, but do not establish a general defect rate or show how the game performs on an individual PC. Rockstar’s requirements and console feature descriptions likewise are not controlled benchmarks. Actual PC performance on a given setup cannot be inferred from the requirements alone.
