Grand Theft Auto VI will not arrive in 2025: that was its original release window. Rockstar Games now lists November 19, 2026 as the release date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The confirmed platforms, editions, preorder terms and boxed-code details below reflect official information available on October 8, 2026.
Why did GTA VI’s release date change from 2025?
Rockstar announced on December 4, 2023, that Grand Theft Auto VI was coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2025. That announcement explains the older date in headlines, but it is no longer the current schedule. Rockstar’s August 2026 announcement and FAQ, Take-Two’s preorder announcement, and the US PlayStation and Xbox store pages list November 19, 2026 as the release date.

Does the boxed version include a disc?
No. Rockstar says the boxed version contains a download code, not a disc. It is expected to ship or be available for pickup starting November 12, 2026, when preload begins—one week before launch. Buying a box therefore does not provide a physical game disc.

Rockstar and PlayStation describe GTA VI as a single-player experience. Its official synopsis places Jason and Lucia in Vice City and the fictional state of Leonida; after an easy score goes wrong, they become caught in a criminal conspiracy. The official material cited here does not establish a multiplayer mode at launch, so GTA Online should not be confused with a confirmed GTA VI online mode.
