Each attempt is a new combination of Olympian powers and changing encounters, while the story continues across attempts. The practical way to approach a walkthrough is to learn how to adapt—not to expect one fixed route every time.
What to expect from a Hades run
You play as Zagreus, the immortal Prince of the Underworld, seeking a way out. Supergiant describes Hades as fast-paced action joined to a story that progresses as you play. The studio says the gameplay and narrative were created for a solo experience; this is not a co-op campaign. Supergiant’s FAQ and game page describe that premise.

Each escape attempt draws on mythic weapons and Olympian powers, but the changing setup means a single room-by-room script cannot cover every run. PlayStation’s product page says weapon, item, and enemy placements change with each restart. Treat each attempt as a chance to respond to the options and challenges it presents, rather than as a repeat of an identical sequence. PlayStation’s Hades page outlines that variation.
How to use this walkthrough
Think in attempts, not one uninterrupted journey
A failed escape attempt is still part of the game’s repeating structure: the story is designed to progress across attempts, rather than requiring you to complete everything in one successful run. Return to the next attempt ready to adapt to its different placements and available Olympian powers.
#1 Best Overall
- Battle out of hell in Hades, recipient of more than 50 Game of the Year awards
- Includes a download code for the Hades Original Soundtrack, by composer Darren Korb, best known for his work on developer Supergiant's past titles like Transistor and Bastion.
- Also includes a full-color 32-page character compendium booklet, featuring beautiful artwork of the game's colorful cast of gods, ghosts, and monsters, all by Supergiant's art director Jen Zee.
- Defy the god of the dead as you hack and slash out of the Underworld in this rogue-like dungeon crawler from the creators of Bastion and Transistor.
- As the immortal Prince of the Underworld, you'll wield the powers and mythic weapons of Olympus to break free from the clutches of the god of the dead himself.
Make decisions from the run in front of you
Because the combination of powers and encounters varies, use the choices you actually encounter as the basis for your decisions. This guide does not prescribe a universal weapon, boon ranking, boss tactic, or resource plan: the official sources cited here establish the broad structure, not a tested mechanical route.
Do not expect a fixed walkthrough to match every attempt
Use general advice as orientation, not as a promise that every player will see rooms, items, and enemies in the same order. The official description specifically notes that placements change with each restart, so a walkthrough that claims one unvarying sequence would overstate what the game provides.
Rank #2
- Battle beyond the Underworld using dark sorcery to take on the Titan of Time in this bewitching sequel to the award-winning rogue-like dungeon crawler.
What changes—and what persists—between attempts
The central established distinction is between changing run conditions and an ongoing story. Weapon, item, and enemy placements change at restart, while Supergiant describes the narrative as progressing across escape attempts. That is the useful high-level expectation: the attempt is variable, but trying again remains part of the narrative structure.
The official pages cited here do not set out a complete item-by-item persistence system, resource rules, ending requirements, room order, or boss move list. Those details should not be inferred from the broad description of story progression. If you need a precise mechanical checklist, consult a specialist guide that documents those systems directly.

Choosing a platform for Hades
For players comparing platforms, the clearest documented difference in this material is PC cross-save support. Supergiant’s FAQ says Nintendo Switch supports PC cross-saves, while Xbox and PlayStation do not support PC cross-saves. Check the current FAQ before buying or moving a save, since platform support can change. The cited FAQ does not establish cross-save details for every other platform pairing.

Soundtrack and boxed-edition details
The soundtrack is by Darren Korb, as identified on PlayStation’s Hades page. Supergiant’s 2021 boxed-edition announcement describes a soundtrack download code bundled with the editions it announced; it does not establish a standalone physical soundtrack.
