What did the Hades II Warsong Update add?
Supergiant called Warsong the game’s second major Early Access update. Its headline changes span the surface route, Olympian boons, the Crossroads, and the game’s progression systems. The developer described the update as a free, automatic download for the Early Access version on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
- Surface route: The update added the route’s final confrontation, along with new locations and foes in the Olympus region.
- Ares: The Greek god of war joined the Olympians, bringing his own boons and new duo boons.
- Familiar: Gale the Polecat became a new animal familiar.
- Progression and combat: The Altar of Ashes, Arcana effects and artwork, resource gathering, guardian resistance and resource rules, and boons across several Olympians were revised. The Witch’s Staff, Argent Skull, and Black Coat also received weapon changes, and new Daedalus Hammer upgrades were added.
- World and story: Warsong added story events and dialogue, Crossroads details, music and art, Chaos Trials, prophecies, encounters, and foes, alongside interface and environmental updates.
Supergiant said the update included more than 2,000 new voice lines. The list above groups notable additions and changes; the developer’s official Steam patch notes are the complete reference for individual changes and balance details.
Did Hades II add God of War?
It added Ares, the Greek god of war, as an Olympian character with new boons. It did not add the God of War video-game franchise. “God of war” here refers to the mythological figure, not a crossover or a new game mode.

Is Warsong the full launch update?
No. Warsong arrived while Hades II was still in Early Access. Supergiant released the full v1.0 game on September 25, 2025, for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. The launch announcement highlighted the true ending, additional character events and music, Fated List prophecies, late-game unlockables, and other finishing touches. There is no confirmed date or feature list for another major patch in the official material cited here. When Warsong launched, Supergiant said a third major update was planned for “some months” later and named hidden weapon aspects, enhanced guardians, and an expanded story as future initiatives. That was an Early Access-era plan, not a current roadmap.

At v1.0 launch, Supergiant said it would monitor the launch and release hotfixes or patches if needed, but that it was too early to say what was next for the team. Its later news archive records the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 releases on April 14, 2026, with bonus content and quality-of-life changes made available in all versions; it does not announce a date for another major update.
