For Halloween 2024, the new spooky picks span more than movies: try Crow Country for retro survival horror, the Silent Hill 2 remake for a major game release, or choose a film or series by the kind of scare you want. This is a retrospective guide to what was highlighted for that season—not a guarantee that a game is currently on sale or a title remains on a streaming service.
Games for a Halloween night in
The 2024 roundup paired games with films and television, so the best choice depends on whether you want to play through the tension or settle in to watch. Its gaming highlights ranged from a new take on a survival-horror classic to an indie game with deliberately old-school atmosphere.

Crow Country: retro survival horror
Crow Country is set in an abandoned Atlanta amusement park in 1990. The indexed 2024 roundup describes grimy visuals, cryptic puzzles, and slow pacing—a fit for players who enjoy the mood and deliberate exploration associated with PlayStation-era survival horror. The setting may sound like a theme-park adventure, but the game is presented as horror, not family-friendly spooky fare.
Silent Hill 2: a major remake
The remake of Silent Hill 2 was another of the year’s horror-game releases highlighted in the roundup. It is the natural pick for someone looking for a substantial horror game rather than a seasonal one-off. The cited roundup does not establish platform, edition, price, or current availability, so check the relevant store listing before buying.

The Lake House: an Alan Wake 2 expansion
The Lake House was described as a short downloadable expansion for Alan Wake 2, released in time for Halloween 2024. It follows Federal Bureau of Control agent Kiran Estevez and connects to Remedy’s wider universe, including Control. This is aimed at existing Alan Wake 2 players; confirm the expansion’s current platform and base-game requirements in the official product listing before purchasing.
No Man’s Sky: The Cursed: a time-limited 2024 event
The Cursed was a two-week No Man’s Sky expedition featuring new bosses, gear, and a flying saucer, alongside an anomaly suppressor and a changed travel system. Because it was a limited-time event in 2024, treat it as a historical Halloween pick unless the game confirms a current rerun.

Movies and shows from the 2024 season
Streaming recommendations are especially date- and region-sensitive. The following titles and services reflect a TV Guide roundup published October 29, 2024; that listing is useful for understanding the season’s choices, but does not confirm present-day catalog access.
| Title | 2024 service listing | Tone or premise |
|---|---|---|
| Apartment 7A | Paramount+ | Listed in TV Guide’s Halloween streaming roundup. |
| Hold Your Breath | Hulu | Psychological horror set in 1930s Oklahoma. |
| House of Spoils | Prime Video | A chef’s ambitions meet a haunted setting. |
| Salem’s Lot | Max | Listed in TV Guide’s Halloween streaming roundup. |
| V/H/S/Beyond | Shudder | An anthology of six sci-fi-leaning found-footage segments. |
| It’s What’s Inside | Netflix | Horror comedy centered on a body-swapping game among college friends. |
For a particular mood, start with Hold Your Breath for psychological dread, V/H/S/Beyond for found footage, or It’s What’s Inside if horror comedy sounds better than a straight scare. TV Guide’s October 29, 2024 listings are not current availability information: check the service in your country before planning a watch.

Peacock’s October 2024 premieres
Peacock’s official September 10, 2024 schedule included two new original series. Teacup, described as a rural Georgia survival story produced by James Wan and Ian McCulloch, was scheduled to begin October 10. Hysteria! was set to premiere October 18; its premise follows teenagers posing as Satanists amid the 1980s Satanic Panic. Those are historical schedule dates, not promises that either show is currently available on Peacock.

- Want to play, not watch? Choose Crow Country for slow, puzzle-led retro horror, or consider the Silent Hill 2 remake as the year’s other prominent game pick.
- Already own Alan Wake 2? The Lake House is the directly connected expansion among these recommendations; check its requirements before buying.
- Prefer a film or series? Pick by tone: psychological horror, haunted-house unease, found footage, or horror comedy are all represented in the 2024 streaming list.
- Planning around a service? Treat all named streaming services and Peacock’s premiere dates as 2024-season information. Availability can vary by country and change over time.
- Choosing for a group or younger viewer? These are horror recommendations, not a family suitability guide. Check the current rating and content advisories for the specific title rather than assuming a spooky theme means mild scares.
Why Halloween watchlists matter to viewers
Disney Advertising’s Disney Dialogue Survey, conducted in March 2024, reported that 54% of Disney viewers surveyed said watching movies had become a tradition, 31% said it was something they looked forward to each year, and 84% said they tuned into Halloween content to celebrate that year. These figures describe Disney’s surveyed viewers, not the wider population.
