1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsChoose Halo: The Master Chief Collection (MCC) for the broader official package: six games with campaigns, multiplayer and Firefight, available on Xbox and Windows. Choose Project Reclaimer if you want its separate Halo 3 multiplayer client and features such as scripted modes or expanded Forge building—and already have Steam MCC with Halo 3 installed. Reclaimer does not include Halo 3 or replace MCC.
What are Project Reclaimer and MCC?
MCC is the official collection
Halo Support describes MCC as a collection of six games: Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2 Anniversary, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach and Halo 4. Its three principal play modes are campaign, multiplayer and Firefight. Halo Support’s MCC Quick Start Guide
Reclaimer is a separate client that uses your MCC files
Project Reclaimer calls itself a free, non-commercial multiplayer client for Halo 3 from MCC. It provides a distinct client experience and project-specific multiplayer and Forge features, but it does not supply game files. You need your own Steam copy of MCC with Halo 3 installed; the current release notes specify that Halo 3’s campaign must also be installed. Project Reclaimer repository and release notes Project Reclaimer releases
The project says the campaign installation provides menu scenery and Forge items such as campaign vehicles and AI. That is a client requirement, not an indication that Reclaimer is a way to play the Halo 3 campaign.

How do platforms and playing with friends differ?
Halo Support lists MCC for Xbox and Windows. Xbox users can play split-screen with up to four people on one console, with one controller per player; split-screen is not available on PC. The guide also describes online play through Xbox network and cross-play between PC and Xbox, with Campaign and Campaign Playlists excluded from cross-play. Halo Support’s MCC Quick Start Guide
Halo’s announcement about MCC coming to PC through Microsoft Store and Steam is historical context, not confirmation of current prices, bundle terms or regional availability. What does Reclaimer add for Halo 3?
Editable scripted game modes
Project Reclaimer’s release notes describe modes including Gun Game, Growth and One in the Chamber. Scripts can be edited and hosted, but they are limited: they cannot access files, the network or the player’s PC. Project Reclaimer releases
Expanded Forge object handling
The release notes describe Forge maps using up to 5,000 frozen objects. This is a project feature claim, not an independent benchmark. All players need the relevant version to join a map that uses those objects. The same release-note context estimates about 450 MB for the Forge object and HUD font cache; that is the project’s estimate, not an independent storage test. Project Reclaimer releases
