Video-game composer Marty O’Donnell won Nevada’s 2026 Republican primary for the U.S. House and is set to challenge Democratic incumbent Susie Lee in the general election, the Associated Press reported. The Federal Election Commission lists O’Donnell as a Republican challenger in Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District and identifies Marty for Congress as his principal campaign committee.
Who is Marty O’Donnell, and what is he running for?
O’Donnell is a Republican candidate for Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District, a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. The FEC’s candidate record identifies him as a challenger and names Marty for Congress as his principal campaign committee: FEC candidate and committee records.
He is known in video games as a composer and audio designer whose work includes the Halo and Destiny franchises. The National Republican Congressional Committee describes him that way in its candidate announcement, while O’Donnell’s campaign has also promoted an Old School Halo Tournament on its site. His game-music career is distinct from evidence about his policy positions or fitness for office.
What does O’Donnell say he would focus on?
His campaign materials emphasize affordability, families, small businesses, community and border security, worker protections amid AI and automation, and reducing government spending and debt. These are positions stated by the campaign, not independently verified outcomes or a full account of how he would implement them.

- AI and jobs: The campaign says workers need protection as AI and automation change work. The Associated Press summarized his primary themes as regulating and investing in AI.
- Border security: The campaign highlights border security; AP reported that O’Donnell supported building on Trump administration border-security policies.
- Spending and debt: The campaign presents confronting spending and national debt as priorities, a theme also noted by AP.
- Families and local economy: Campaign pages cite affordability, families, small businesses, and community security. AP’s coverage of the race also identified taxes on tips, energy costs, and tourism as issues in the district’s debate.
O’Donnell’s campaign says, “I’m not accepting Corporate PAC dollars. My campaign is powered by patriots.” That is the campaign’s characterization of its fundraising; it does not establish the full makeup of receipts. FEC filings are the appropriate source for campaign-finance details.
Who is he running against, and what is the race context?
After winning the Republican primary, O’Donnell is set to face Democratic incumbent Susie Lee, according to the Associated Press. AP has described Nevada’s 3rd District as one of the state’s most competitive House seats. Its June primary-night report noted a narrow Democratic registration advantage and many nonpartisan voters; that is a dated description of the electorate, not a forecast of the general-election result.

In September 2026 coverage, AP reported that O’Donnell’s campaign had made a $3 million personal loan and discussed candidate ad reservations and outside-group spending. Those are figures reported at that time, not audited totals or current balances. For the latest filings and committee activity, consult the FEC record.

Nevada Current reported that O’Donnell ran for the same seat in 2024 and lost the Republican primary. The publication also recounted remarks he made about authorizing military action in Iran and his views on the Trump administration, attributing them to the podcast or event it covered. Those reported remarks should not be confused with a formally published campaign platform.
