If Halo Infinite crashes on launch, first identify where you’re playing: PC or Xbox. On PC, note whether you installed it through Steam, the Xbox app, or Microsoft Store, and whether the crash happens when opening multiplayer or campaign. The right fix depends on that combination; none of the steps below is a guaranteed solution for every crash.
Start with these five checks
- Platform, storefront, and content: PC repair steps vary by storefront, and campaign and multiplayer are separate content. A documented Steam texture-pack workaround applies specifically to some campaign launch problems.
- Game update: Check that Halo Infinite is fully updated and look for current notices that match your platform and symptom. A launch-blocking issue for Xbox PC and Microsoft Store was addressed in the October 7, 2025 Fall Update; that dated fix does not establish the cause of a crash in 2026. See the Fall Update patch notes.
- Installation health: Verify or repair game files using the option for your storefront. Halo Support says corrupted or modified installation files can cause crashes or hangs.
- Hardware and graphics driver: Compare your PC with Halo Support’s published requirements below, then check your graphics-card maker’s support site for a current driver. Do not assume a driver version listed in an older support article is still current.
- Known issues: Check whether your symptoms match a documented issue, such as missing Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC), Comodo blocking an Xbox app or Microsoft Store installation, or a rare multiplayer crash with raytraced sun shadows enabled. The Multiplayer Known Issues page was updated November 18, 2025, so match its entries to your exact version and symptom.
Try the fix that matches your platform and symptom
1. Verify or repair the installation
Use the repair option for the storefront where you installed the game. Close the game first.
- Steam: In your Library, right-click Halo Infinite and choose Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files. When verification finishes, restart your PC before testing the game.
- Microsoft Store: Open Windows Settings > Apps > Halo Infinite > Advanced options > Repair. Halo Support recommends uninstalling and downloading the game again if Repair does not resolve the issue.
- Xbox app on PC: Open Halo Infinite’s management options and choose Manage > Files > Verify and Repair.
For the official steps and notes on file-corruption symptoms, see Halo Infinite File Corruption.
2. Restore EAC if the game will not launch
Halo Support lists a missing EAC installation as a rare reason Halo Infinite may fail to launch. If you use Steam, verify the game files first. If that does not restore EAC—or if you installed through Microsoft Store or the Xbox app—uninstall and reinstall Halo Infinite so the EAC installation can be triggered again. The EAC support article describes this issue.

3. If Steam campaign crashes, test the texture-pack workaround
This is a campaign-specific workaround, not a general multiplayer fix. Halo Support’s Campaign Known Issues article, updated June 10, 2025 for version 1.11.0.1, gives these steps for the relevant Steam launch issue:
- In your Steam Library, right-click Halo Infinite and choose Properties > DLC.
- Uncheck Multiplayer High-Res Textures and let the game update. Relaunch and test campaign.
- If it still crashes, uncheck Campaign and Campaign High-Res Textures, let the game update, and test again.
- If it continues to crash after uninstalling all DLC, reboot the PC and try once more.
See the Campaign Known Issues article for the documented case.

4. Change a setting or security rule only if it matches your issue
- Comodo blocks an Xbox app or Microsoft Store install: Halo Support says to add Halo Infinite to Comodo’s Excluded Applications. This applies to the documented Comodo conflict, not to antivirus software in general.
- Multiplayer crashes with raytraced sun shadows enabled: On PC or Xbox Series X|S, disable Raytraced Sun Shadows in the game’s Video settings and test again. Halo Support describes this as a rare match-crash issue, not a universal launch fix.
Both issues are covered on the Multiplayer Known Issues page.
5. Reinstall only after verification or repair fails
If the storefront’s verification or repair option does not help, a full reinstall is a reasonable next step. Halo Support notes that reinstalling may resolve problems after game files have been modified. If reinstalling does not fix the crash, gather the details listed in the support section below rather than repeating the same repair steps.

Check whether your PC meets the published hardware baseline
Halo Support’s hardware article, updated December 12, 2024, lists these configurations. They are compatibility baselines, not proof that upgrading a component will solve an unexplained crash.
| Setting | Minimum / Low | Recommended / High |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 RS5 x64 1809 | Windows 10 19H2 x64 1909 |
| Processor | AMD Ryzen 5 1600 or Intel i5-4440 | AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or Intel i7-9700K |
| Graphics card | AMD RX 570 or Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti | AMD RX 5700 XT or Nvidia RTX 2070 |
| Video memory | 4+ GB VRAM | 8+ GB VRAM |
| System memory | 8+ GB RAM | 16+ GB RAM |
| Storage | 50+ GB SSD | 50+ GB SSD |
These are the requirements as listed in Halo Support’s PC Hardware Specs and Drivers for Halo Infinite, updated December 12, 2024. The article recommends current graphics drivers and directs players to GPU manufacturers; check those manufacturers’ support sites for current releases. It also states that Intel graphics hardware is not supported at this time. Halo Support cautions: “Please note that modifying game files may result in performance issues and crashes.”

If Halo Infinite still crashes, send support useful evidence
When contacting Halo Support, describe exactly what you did and what happened, in order. Include video if available. For PC crashes, Halo Support asks for a DxDiag file and the recent Halo Infinite Problem Report from Windows.
- Press the Windows key, type
dxdiag, and run the tool. - Choose Save All Information and attach the resulting DxDiag file.
- Open Control Panel > Problem Reports > View all problem reports, find the recent Halo Infinite report, and include it.
- In your report, state whether you use Steam, the Xbox app, or Microsoft Store; whether you were opening campaign or multiplayer; and the steps that reproduce the crash.
Use Halo Support’s ticket submission guidance. If multiple Xbox games are crashing, Halo Support directs players to Xbox Support.
