hanreportforclient.dll is a real third-party game-client DLL, not a Windows system file. It is attributed to NHN Corp. and is associated with older NHN game middleware used by titles including A.V.A. Alliance of Valiant Arms, S.K.I.L.L. – Special Force 2, Run and Fire, Karos, and older ijji or Soldier Front installations.

- Windows Security shows the file in Protection history: do not download a replacement; reinstall the game or restore the file only after confirming the game installation is legitimate.
- The file exists, but Windows says “specified module could not be found”: a dependent DLL or Visual C++ runtime may be missing.
- The error says the file is not designed to run on Windows: restore the exact game build. The file may be corrupted, mismatched, or the wrong architecture.
- You do not know which program requested it: inspect the shortcut, executable, and installation folders before repairing anything.
- Several Windows programs also fail: use DISM and SFC after repairing the game, not as the first response.
- A separate graphics or device error is present: update the relevant driver, but a driver reinstall is not normally a fix for this DLL.
What hanreportforclient.dll belongs to
This DLL is described as a client log-reporting component and is attributed to NHN Corp. It normally belongs inside the folder of the game that installed it, often beneath folders named Binaries, Win32, or a similar client directory.

It is not known as a Microsoft or Windows component. Do not expect to find the correct copy in:
C:WindowsSystem32C:WindowsSysWOW64
Public game file records identify the component in several older NHN-related game packages. They do not prove that every copy is identical. Some installations may contain a related debug-named file such as HanReportForClientD.dll.
The known public records describe a 32-bit build. That matters because many of the games using this middleware are 32-bit applications, even when installed on 64-bit Windows.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Identify the game that requested the file
Before replacing anything, find the executable that produces the message.
Check the shortcut
- Right-click the shortcut that fails.
- Select Properties.
- On the Shortcut tab, read Target and Start in.
- Note the game folder and the executable name.
- Select Open File Location if that button is available.
The missing DLL normally belongs beside the executable that loads it or in one of the application’s own subfolders.
Check the error timing
The responsible program is usually the one you launched immediately before the message appeared. If you have multiple copies of an old game, check each shortcut carefully. A stale desktop shortcut can point to an old installation even after the game has been reinstalled elsewhere.
Do not move a DLL from one game folder to another. A file from one release may not match another release’s executable or dependencies.

Fix 1: Verify or repair the game files
This is the most likely solution.
Steam installation
- Open Steam.
- Select Library.
- Right-click the affected game.
- Choose Properties.
- Select Installed Files.
- Choose Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait for the process to finish.
- Start the game from Steam.
Steam should download or restore files that are missing or changed. Test the game again after the verification completes.
Another launcher or installer
Open the game’s launcher and look for an option named Repair, Verify, Scan, Check files, or Reinstall. Use the launcher associated with that exact game installation.

If no repair option exists:
- Back up saved games if they are stored inside the game folder.
- Uninstall the game from Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall it from the publisher’s legitimate launcher or the store where you originally obtained it.
- Launch it once from that launcher rather than an old shortcut.
If the game is obsolete and its launcher or servers are no longer supported, an installer may no longer be able to restore the files. In that situation, avoid random DLL downloads and confirm whether the original game can still be installed from a legitimate source.
Fix 2: Check Windows Security quarantine
Antivirus software can remove or quarantine an old game component. That does not automatically mean the file is malware, but it also does not make blind restoration safe.
- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Look for an event involving the game folder or
hanreportforclient.dll. - Expand the event and read the detected threat, path, and action.
- If the game came from an untrusted source, remove it and reinstall from a legitimate source.
- If the installation is legitimate, update Windows Security, run a scan, and then use the game launcher’s repair function.
Prefer letting the launcher provide a fresh copy rather than restoring a quarantined file manually. If you restore anything, confirm the path belongs to the expected game and scan the complete installation afterward.
For broader concerns, open Virus & threat protection → Scan options, choose Full scan, and select Scan now. If malware is found, remove it first, then reinstall the affected game.
Fix 3: Install the correct prerequisite runtime
A message saying:
“The specified module could not be found”
does not always mean hanreportforclient.dll itself is absent. Windows may have found that file but failed to load one of its dependencies.
This is particularly relevant when the game also reports files such as:
msvcr80.dllmsvcp80.dllmsvcr90.dll
A 32-bit game needs the x86 Visual C++ runtime, even on 64-bit Windows.
Use Microsoft’s latest supported Visual C++ Redistributable when the game requires a current supported runtime. Choose vc_redist.x86.exe for a 32-bit game. Installing only the x64 package does not satisfy a 32-bit application.
Older games may specifically require side-by-side Visual C++ 2005 or 2008 packages:

Fix 4: Restore the exact game-local file
If the file exists somewhere on the computer, verify its location:
- Open the game’s installation folder.
- Find the executable that fails.
- Check whether
hanreportforclient.dllis in the expected game directory or client subfolder. - Right-click the file and select Properties.
- Open the Details tab.
- Compare the company or description information with the game’s original files.
- Check the file’s Digital Signatures tab if one is present.
The file’s presence in another game directory does not make it a suitable replacement. Do not copy it to System32, SysWOW64, or a different game folder unless the original software vendor explicitly requires that location.
If the file is present beside the executable and still will not load, suspect a missing dependency, corruption, wrong architecture, or an incompatible game update. Repair or reinstall the complete game.
Why regsvr32 usually does not help
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer, commonly ActiveX or COM components.
There is no reviewed evidence that hanreportforclient.dll is a self-registering COM DLL. Running a command such as:
regsvr32 hanreportforclient.dll
will usually do nothing useful and may return an “entry point not found” error.
Do not register this file merely because Windows calls it a DLL. Game libraries are normally loaded by the game executable from its application directory.

Fix 5: Repair Windows components when other symptoms exist
DISM and SFC repair Windows component corruption. They normally will not recreate a third-party game DLL, so use them when Windows has additional problems, such as damaged system applications, update failures, or multiple unrelated programs reporting dependency errors.
- Right-click Start.
- Select Terminal (Admin) or Command Prompt (Admin).
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to complete.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Repair or verify the game again.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC. If either command reports that it could not repair everything, do not assume that copying hanreportforclient.dll into a Windows folder will solve the problem.
When manually repeating SFC and DISM is becoming guesswork, Outbyte PC Repair can scan for broader Windows issues and show what it identifies; repairs are performed by the full version. Reinstalling the game remains the definitive fix when this specific DLL belongs to that game.
Fix 6: Update a driver only for a separate driver problem
A graphics-driver reinstall is not a normal remedy for a missing game DLL. Consider it only when the same launch attempt also reports display-driver failures, crashes in other games, or a problem in Device Manager.
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters or the category containing the affected device.
- Right-click the device.
- Choose Update driver.
- Select Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows and test the game.
For a clean manufacturer-supported update, download the driver from the computer or graphics-device manufacturer. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for outdated drivers and identify what needs attention; installation of the drivers is handled by the full version. It is not a substitute for repairing the game that owns hanreportforclient.dll.
Avoid random DLL download sites
Downloading a standalone replacement is risky because it may be:
- Malware or a tampered file
- The wrong 32-bit or 64-bit architecture
- From a different game release
- An incompatible build
- Missing the dependencies the game actually needs
It can also conceal the original cause, such as a failed update or antivirus quarantine. Use the game’s launcher, its legitimate installer, or an official prerequisite from Microsoft instead.
Prevention after the game starts
- Keep the game installed in one known location.
- Do not use registry cleaners or DLL-fixing utilities that move application files.
- Keep the launcher and Windows Security updated.
- Do not exclude an entire game folder from antivirus protection without understanding the risk.
- Keep a backup of saves before reinstalling an old game.
- Replace stale desktop shortcuts after moving or reinstalling the game.
- Install prerequisites from the game installer or Microsoft rather than from file-collection sites.
FAQ
Is hanreportforclient.dll a Windows file?
No credible evidence identifies it as a Microsoft Windows component. It is a third-party, game-local DLL attributed to NHN Corp.
Is it a 32-bit or 64-bit file?
Public catalog information identifies a 32-bit build, and related game manifests commonly place it in Win32 client folders. The correct file still depends on the particular game release.
Should I put it in System32?
No. Restore it to the game directory through the game’s launcher or installer. Copying it to System32 or SysWOW64 can create mismatched files and does not repair the owning game.
Is it the Visual C++ Redistributable?
No. It is a game component, not a Microsoft runtime package. The surrounding game may separately need an x86 Visual C++ runtime.
What if the file exists but the error continues?
Check for a missing dependency, an old Visual C++ runtime, a wrong build, quarantine, or a damaged installation. Repair the entire game rather than replacing only the visible DLL.
