What is the latest GTA VI release date?
Rockstar’s latest cited release-status announcement, repeated in its August 27, 2026 extended-look announcement, sets the launch for November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Take-Two’s fiscal first-quarter 2027 release slate lists the same date and platforms. The extended-look footage was captured entirely in-game on PlayStation 5. Rockstar’s release announcement and Take-Two’s release slate support the current date.

What is the “even more bad news”?
The headline does not specify an event, and the official release and pre-order statements cited here do not announce another delay or a distinct new setback. Rockstar has announced two date changes. In May 2025, it moved the game from its previously announced fall 2025 window to May 26, 2026, saying it needed extra time to deliver the quality players expected. In November 2025, it shifted the release again, to November 19, 2026, saying the additional time would allow the team to further polish the game. These are Rockstar’s stated reasons; its posts do not independently establish other causes.

In the second delay announcement, Rockstar wrote: “With this additional time, we can finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.” Rockstar’s November 6, 2025 announcement gives that explanation. The earlier move to May 26, 2026 was announced on May 2, 2025.

Rockstar has announced PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as launch platforms and describes the game as a single-player experience. Pre-orders began June 25, 2026. Take-Two’s June 24 announcement listed two editions and their US prices:

Those are the prices in Take-Two’s US announcement, not a guarantee of what a buyer will pay in another country or through every retailer. The cited announcement does not establish the personal or resale value of the Ultimate Edition’s extra items. Take-Two’s pre-order announcement lists the editions and also says the physical box contains a download code. It is not described as a disc edition.
