Yes. Hazelight had begun work on its next game by early 2025, and founder Josef Fares teased the project again on February 10, 2026. The teaser shows motion-capture activity, but Hazelight has not confirmed the game’s title, story, release date, platforms, cast, or player count.

When did Hazelight start making its next game?

In an interview reported by Insider Gaming on March 18, 2025, Hazelight founder and game director Josef Fares said work had started about a month earlier—around February 2025. He described the project as being at a very early stage, with the team developing story ideas and some gameplay ideas. The report said Fares put the story ideas at roughly 130 pages; that was a count of ideas at the time, not a confirmed script length or finished story. Insider Gaming’s March 2025 report quoted Fares saying: “Split Fiction is the best-received game we have done, everybody is super happy, but I’m so fully focused and excited on the next thing, that we’ve already started,”

What did Hazelight tease in February 2026?

On February 10, 2026, Fares posted “Next game in the making” with an image from a motion-capture setting, according to Kotaku’s coverage. Hazelight’s official social account also posted, as reproduced by MeriStation: “✌️We’re back in the kitchen, cookin’ up something really delicious! 🥘 Now with Strategic Arm Placement Tech®️”

The image shows Fares with three actors in motion-capture suits. It confirms that motion-capture work is part of the teaser, but it does not identify the actors or establish that the game will support three players.

What is known about the next Hazelight game?

The confirmed information is limited to the project being in development and Fares’s comments about its early ideation in March 2025. The February 2026 posts are teasers, not a full reveal.

  • Title and story: not announced in the cited coverage.
  • Release date or window: not announced.
  • Platforms: not announced.
  • Cast: the actors shown in the teaser have not been identified.
  • Player count and format: not confirmed; the three actors in the image do not prove a three-player mode.

How does it relate to Split Fiction?

The new project is a separate, unannounced game. Split Fiction is Hazelight’s previous released game and provides context for Fares’s March 2025 comments, but its details should not be treated as specifications for the next project. MeriStation reported in 2026 that Split Fiction sold one million copies in its first 48 hours, two million in its debut week, and more than four million units by early 2026; those are outlet-reported figures about the released game, not the new one.

What to watch for next

Until Hazelight makes a fuller announcement, the reliable takeaway is that development began around February 2025 and was still being teased in February 2026. A title, platforms, release timing, named cast, story details, and player format remain unconfirmed.
