Hearth and Hamlet is listed as single-player on Steam, and its current Steam Deck compatibility label is Playable—not Verified. Save-file details need more caution: the developer has announced backup saves and corruption safeguards, but a confirmed full-release save path and demo-to-full-game transfer policy are not established in the available official information.
Does Hearth and Hamlet support multiplayer?
No multiplayer or co-op mode is listed on the game’s Steam store page, which identifies it as single-player. Treat the game as single-player unless the developer updates its official feature listing.
Does Hearth and Hamlet work on Steam Deck?
Steam currently labels Hearth and Hamlet Playable on Steam Deck. That is distinct from Verified; the label alone does not establish flawless performance or specific control behavior. Check the live Steam listing for changes to compatibility status.
Where are Hearth and Hamlet save files?
No developer-published save path for the full release is established in the available official sources. A community guide reports these possible locations, inferred from Steam Cloud configuration parsing rather than confirmed by the developer:
#1 Best Overall
- GROW a humble Hamlet into a bustling town.
- BUILD YOUR VILLAGE: Hamlet features irregular shaped tiles that connect together without a grid to form a village that is completely different every time.
- TILE PLACEMNENT organically creates interconnecting paths that the villagers use to transport resources across the village. This leads players to construct boards where no two games will ever feel the same.
- PROVIDE FOR THE VILLAGE: Since the buildings are communal, this also creates a fluid economy, where players are always working hard to provide the village with the resources that are most needed.
- EASY TO LEARN while providing a lot of depth, medium weight competitive village builder, irregular tile shapes, organic village growth.
- Windows:
%USERPROFILE%AppDataRoamingGodotapp_userdataHearth and Hamlet - Linux:
$XDG_DATA_HOME/godot/app_userdata/Hearth and Hamlet, or commonly~/.local/share/godot/app_userdata/Hearth and Hamletwhen the XDG data directory is not set.
These are provisional leads, not guaranteed current paths. Other community search results cite a different Windows location and also mark it unconfirmed, so the available claims conflict. Do not assume a path is correct before checking whether it contains the save you need.
Do demo saves transfer to the full game?
That has not been confirmed. The developer’s v1.0.46 demo patch notes say backend changes made older demo saves incompatible: “As a result, older save files are no longer compatible.” This applies to older saves after that demo update; it does not establish whether a save from a later demo build carries over to the full release. If transfer matters to you, do not rely on it unless the developer confirms compatibility.

- Hamlet is a medium weight competitive village builder where players are communally turning their hamlet into a bustling little town, by completing the construction of the church.
- Hamlet features irregular shaped tiles that connect together without a grid to form a village that is completely different every time.
- The tile placement organically creates interconnecting paths that the villagers use to access buildings.
- Distance between buildings matters, as resources need to be transported from one building to another. This leads players to construct boards where no two games will ever feel the same.
- Since the buildings are communal, this also creates a fluid economy, where players need to adapt to the emergent needs of their Hamlet.
Are there cloud saves, and how can I protect my progress?
The community guide reports Steam Cloud configuration details based on SteamDB parsing, but the official Steam listing does not document cloud saves. Treat the reported configuration as secondary-source information, not an official guarantee that cloud syncing is available or working for your setup.
A developer announcement excerpt says the redesigned save system includes backup saves and safeguards intended to make saves more resilient to corruption from events such as power failures. That describes the announced design; it is not a guarantee that every damaged save can be recovered, and the excerpt does not provide recovery steps. For cautious manual file handling, close the game before copying or changing files, keep a separate backup, and verify any restored save before deleting your backup. These are general precautions, not a developer-validated recovery procedure.
