Heartopia, XD’s free-to-play life simulation game, drew a reported 15,100 concurrent players within its first 12 hours on Steam. Notebookcheck later reported a peak of 17,100 and about 350 reviews, figures that describe the launch period—not the game’s current player count or review total.

What is Heartopia?

Heartopia is a multiplayer life sim developed and published by XD. Its Steam listing centers the game on home design, hobbies and social connections. Players can fish, cook, garden and watch birds, as well as choose outfits and adopt cats and dogs. The developer’s store description says players can “develop six major hobbies, including fishing, cooking, gardening, birdwatching, and more.” Steam’s Heartopia listing describes the game and its activities.

Steam lists Heartopia as free to play, with in-app purchases and chance-based in-game purchases. It also lists multiplayer and cross-platform multiplayer. Those store labels describe the offered features; they do not establish the cost of particular items or the details of cross-platform play.

What do the 15,100-player and 350-review figures mean?

Notebookcheck reported that Heartopia reached 15,100 concurrent players during its first 12 hours on Steam, then climbed to 17,100 by the time of its January 17, 2026 report. The same report cited about 350 Steam reviews at that point. The outlet attributed the player figures to Steam/SteamDB. These are launch-period measurements, not current totals. Notebookcheck’s January 17 launch report covered those early figures.

Steam’s review panel is dynamic, and a later listing snapshot showed different measures: 71% positive among 525 reviews from the last 30 days, and 59% positive among 7,937 English-language reviews overall. The recent-review window and overall English-language tally are separate populations, and neither should be conflated with the roughly 350 reviews Notebookcheck reported at launch. These figures are an observed snapshot, not a live count; check the store listing for its current display.

When did Heartopia launch on Steam?

Steam lists January 16, 2026 as Heartopia’s release date, while Notebookcheck’s launch story describes the debut as January 17. The sources do not explain the one-day difference, so the official store date is the clearest date to use while noting the discrepancy.
