To open the coffin in the Watcher’s Nest, collect four Ceramic Flowers from Pentos’ tomb, place them in the slots identified by the Grief emblem, the Vigil symbol, the Order’s founding-year clue and Algea’s name, then return to the tomb and pull the lever beside the coffin.
What the four slots represent
The note attributed to Vitalis gives the puzzle’s logic: “Through his name, his title, the symbol of his Order, and the date of inception of his Order, shall the path be revealed.” The four placements identify Pentos by those clues: his title, his Order, its founding date, and his name. Where to place each Ceramic Flower
- Grief: Put a flower in the slot marked with the Grief symbol. Pentos Algea is identified as the Warden of Grief. (The Review Geek’s Watcher’s Nest walkthrough)
- Vigil: Among the three Order symbols, use the slot bearing the Vigil logo.
- Founding year: In the main research room, place a flower in the slot to the right of the Order drapery. The date clue is 1501. (The Review Geek’s Watcher’s Nest walkthrough)
- Algea: Place the final flower in the concealed slot behind the whiteboard beside Algea’s name.
The placements are corroborated by Gamer Guides’ Watcher’s Nest puzzle walkthrough and Game8’s Act 1 walkthrough. The flowers are collected in the tomb area; check each location carefully, especially behind the whiteboard.
Open the coffin
After all four flowers are correctly placed, go back down to Pentos’ tomb and pull the lever beside the coffin. Walkthroughs report that opening it yields the Blue Flower Scroll and the Mark of the Betrayed relic. (Gamer Guides; Game8)
